“Understated luxury”

We stayed 2 nights at Le Quartier Français to end a trip in South Africa and were not disappointed. Our room in a enclosed garden was the perfect setting to relax after weeks of traveling. Without being pompous, the rooms are extremely comfortable, the service attentive and the food outstanding. I would specially recommend the tasting menu with accompanying wines. You want to take a picture of all the dishes ! Finally, the hotel's location is just perfect, allowing you to walk to all the town has to offer.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the enclosed garden.

We enjoyed a few nights here whilst visiting the wine lands. Rooms were spacious and well appointed, the location on the Main Street is very handy. Food was absolutely excellent. Our meal in the Tasting Room was absolutely outstanding. Definitely one of the best meals we've ever had and reminded me of our dinner at The Fat Duck.
Service at reception was a bit patchy and some of the foliage needs cutting back as our room was quite dark and it overhangs the paths somewhat.

We stayed two nights at Le Quartier Francais and was delighted with the style and comfort. The rooms were very spacious and decorated with bright fun colors. It also had many modern conveniences. The surrounding yards were well maintained and we had stunning views of the vineyards on the mountainsides. We ate at the Tasting Room which was a wonderful experience as well. The chef was wonderful and we were able to meet her as well. The hotel was situated in Franschhoek and we were able to walk to the town for more dining options and shopping. What a charming place. We had a wonderful experience!

Our visit to South African wine country was enriched by our stay at Le Quartier Francais in charming Franschhoek. After checking in on a cold and rainy afternoon, a genial staff member prepared a fire in our wood-burning fireplace and left us to unpack by the cheery, flickering light. Country French is the theme of decor (the area was settled by French Huguenots), and global sophistication and local courtesy serve to improve the experience. The hotel is a few blocks walk from shops and restaurants, and its own dining room is world class. All in all, a terrific stay.

Room Tip: The hotel is on two levels. If there are accessibility issues, opt for ground level so as not to cli...

We stayed three nights during our recent trip after stopping here previously on two occasions a number of years ago.
Memories were true. This remains a lovely place to stay in the centre of Franschhoek, with a superb restaurant, which I shall review separately.
The rooms are large with tasteful decor and excellent bathrooms. Service was excellent, very friendly and helpful. A positive feature for us is the ability to walk out of the hotel straight onto the Main street with its wide variety of restaurants and local shops. The car did not move for the entire period of our stay!
In the sunshine the journey into the village over the pass from the N2 was as magical as ever. The views down into the valley from the overlook are absolutely stunning.

Our experience here was completely satisfying. We stayed here primarily to eat at the superb Tasting Room restaurant. But the hotel was equally charming. Beautifully decorated room, nice grounds, friendly and competent staff. Deserves its Relais & Chateaux membership.

Room Tip: All I remember is we were on the second floor overlooking the pool and that seemed ideal to us.

My husband and I stayed here on our first visit to South Africa. It is incredibly hard to find as the only sign visible from the street is bizarrely a le creuset sign! Once installed though we were soothed by the beautiful big room and the views over the charming garden and pool. Breakfast isn't as good as at other hotels in SA but is beautifully served in a charming room. We were however very disappointed that the fine dining room was not open - the main reason we had chosen the hotel. Luckily next door is a Great restaurant called Ryan's kitchen
