Description: It just seems meant to be that the location of Roca on Dieu Donne is actually translated as Rock on God Given land. This becomes apparent on first observing the iconic views of the Franschoek Valley from the upper deck of the double volume Roca Restaurant. The visionary behind the Dieu Donne wine estate, Robert Maingard, has no doubt inculcated the dynamic restaurant proprietor, Craig Sherrell, to use the space in which the energy of sacred geometry has been introduced. A visit here can be lengthy as the beauty; the food, the wine and the service have an amazing effect. The upper indoor space, seating 120 covers has its special aura, complimented by the Seed and Flower of Life and the Cross of Loraine.

This restaurant has one of the most amazing views over the Franschhoek vally and a exclusive restaurant with excellent food and wine on offer. The food was scrumptious and well presented albeit the service a little slow. The evening with friends was well enjoyed and its a place I can reccomend. Take someting warm with you as it can get chilly on the terrace once the sun sets. Love the place. Thanks the chef for the great food and well presented.

This restaurant must have one of the best views. The whole valley is laid out in front of you. Good as it is with the sun setting, it is at lunchtime on a summer's day that it is at its best. The food is good and varies from snacks to share to more complex fare, but everything is well presented and served by a pleasant and efficient staff. There is a sensible list of local wines many of which (including those from the estate) are available by the glass. If going on the Wine Tram this makes a pleasant lunch spot.

We visited Roca on recommendation of guest house owner as the perfect setting to watch the sun go down. Views to die for. Service was great, from cocktails on the terrace, to my delicious ostrich fillet . We shared sweets as SA portions defeat us! Gorgeous panna cotta and brûlée to finish. The chef was proud of his restaurant and clearly committed to use of fresh, local ingredients and "slow food" principals, choosing to bake most dishes in his huge pizza oven. It was fascinating watching the chefs at work in the open kitchen. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening. A fitting end to a lovely holiday.

We have stayed in Franshoeck many times but never eaten here. We arrived on road bikes and were welcomed enthusiastically in our Lycra having parked our bikes at the top of the steps.......after a long climb.
We had a fabulous meal. The views are amazing so go for lunch.
We will go back.

A rather exclusive restaurant with excellent food. Nice garden with a view on the mountains and vineyards. Food was very tasty: I had a soup and then snails made with garlic in a French way. However, the service was rather slow both to take order/serve and then to charge - that made bad impression in the end.
