“CLOSED permanently”
Reviewed November 5, 2012

We enjoy GB wines and so were looking forward to visiting during our first visit to SA. This site is no longer a GB winery and will not reopen as such.
I understand that BG still provides visits and tastings at their winery in Robertson area, quite a distance away in the Klein Karoo.
People in Franschhoek said they were quite disappointed by the closure, as GB not only closed a local attraction but also is cutting back on the variety of wines they produce. What a shame. At least we'll look forward to drinking the ones that they still produce.

“great tasting on the way”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

stopped in for a sample of the wine, as recommended in our guide book. It wasn't super busy when we arrived, so we had a chance to visit with the staff and learn about the history of the winery. Brought home some dessert wine :)

“What a shame”
Reviewed July 18, 2012

We visited the Graham beck winery in Franschoek and as usual the welcome and the wines were superb. We concentrated on the cap classique which were outstanding. We did find out however that Graham Beck had died 18 months earlier and that the trustees had sold out to another winery and a few days after we visited the winery would adopt another name. Hopefully the wines will still be superb.

“Delicious wines and food”

Spend a day away from the ordinary vineyards. Nearer Paarl, but worth the drive. Stunning.

“Excellent Wines”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

Have been a fan of GB wines for many years since Charles Hopkins was the wine maker. Love the Game Keepers reserve. Excellent. Make a trip to the cellar - well worth it.
