“Very cool, but a little at odds with Franschhoek?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 26, 2013

Great environment, very designer and sophistiacted, but it's all a bit to hard-edged for friendly, cosy and rustic Franschhoek.

I think this establishment is better suited to a city.

That said, the service is good, and the food is good. I'd recommend it.

“Good lunch, great value”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 12, 2013

Had lunch at Le coq whilst passing by. Food was lovely, burger was very nicely made and I was even asked how I liked it cooked. Partner had bruschetta which was also very nice. Nice day so we sat outside which was nice. Very clean too. 2 mains and 2 non alcoholic drinks for R200 is excellent value. Good for a quick lunch.

“A very nice spot for a relaxing lunch”

My wife had a wonderful filet and I had the angus burger while sitting outside. Both delightful. We enjoyed them with a Blanc de Blanc MCC. The staff was extremely friendly and prompt. A good value and enjoyable.

“Great views from back terrace”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 5, 2013 via mobile

Just had a very tasty rump steak in this restaurant just back from the main road. We sat on the bacj terrace with amazing views of the mountains.

The food, we both had steak, was tender and tasty. The service was good.

Restaurant was however quiet- do not understand why as we had a really good time.

“empty restaurant”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 23, 2013

As we had missed this restaurant last year while visiting, we thought we should try it. What a mistake. No other patrons were in the restaurant and the waitress eventually sat down and chatted with us...........Starters were clearly just taken out of the cooler and were so large we could not possibly finish them. The pork belly was nearly inedible with none of the fat rendered off. An awkward experience in a town with so many other choices
