Description: The name of the restaurant was inspired by La Motte's admiration of South African artist Jacob Hendrik Pierneef (1886 - 1957). Pierneef's creativity in portraying the beauty of the South African landscape is echoed in the restaurant's offering of traditional cuisine with a modern interpretation. The restaurant interior blends beautifully with the external surroundings - a fresh, natural look inside is embraced by tranquil gardens and majestic oak trees - where a Winelands Tea with a selection of home-baked delights from the La Motte Farm Shop can be enjoyed. The exclusively arranged Pierneef a La Motte Chef's Table offers a fine-dine menu in line with guests' preferences, as pre-arranged with Chef Michelle Theron, as well as a harmoniously complementing wine selection

We were staying at Lekkerwiji country house and the owner strongly recommended us to eat at Pierneef a La Motte. We didn't make any lunch reservation but the host was very kind to arranged a big table for the two of us. The place was full house. The interior was lovely, we had a crispy roasted pork n a lamb with wine. After lunch was a short walk to the wine tasting room. A cosy place with comfortable sofas to have wine tasting and large glass screen to view the working and the maturation cellars. Finally we went to visit the La Motte museum. The host at the museum walk through with us on the cultural n historical facts of the Rupert family, cape dutch architecture n the art works on display. This is a vineyard you won't want to miss it when in Franschhoek.

This was my favorite lunch in South Africa. The wine is great, the food is amazing, and the outdoor seating absolutely charming. There is a giant chess set to play with. The service was also top. Definitely worth a visit!

We had lunch here, the setting is ideal. From driving into the wine estate, La motte, simply beautiful to being seated under the trees in a tranquil setting boasting water features.

The staff and professional and friendly and more than willing to advise on wine selections to accompany your food selection. Very relaxing in deed and a taste bud feast !

The wine was great, food tasty and wonderfully presented, and the outdoor dining was nice and chill. If we return to the area, we'll be back for another great meal.
