We sat inside as the weather was rather cool and the wind was blowing. We chose the 5 course tasting menu with pairing of wines as it was our first evening at the hotel.
We started with a refined Beetroot and onion tarte Tatin paired with a la Motte Sauvignon Blanc. We then followed with a crisp Salt & Pepper Shrimp served with a Ponzu sauce and tasted a fruity Boschkloof Chardonnay. Then I had the Karoo rack of Lamb with a Porcupine ridge Shiraz while my partner tasted the Bacon wrapped Kingklip with a Graham Chenin Blanc. Cheese was a Camembert melt with honey, walnut and macerated berries. Truly wonderful and accompanied by a Rickety ridge natural sweet.
To crown a wonderful and refined meal we had a Creme Brule served with a Nederburg Noble Late Harvest.
Coffee and truffles followed to end a perfect first experience of Franschhoek.
