Description: Monneaux Restaurant ranks among South Africa's top restaurants, and serves an inspired contemporary take on the classics. Lunch is enjoyed on the fountain terrace under a spreading pepper tree while dinner is enjoyed in the elegant but relaxed dining room in the original manor house. Set on the original site of Franschhoek's first parfumerie, today its the heavenly scent of chef Adrian Buchanans cooking that inspires at the Monneaux Restaurant, a Cape culinary classic. Even by the food & wine capital of the country's high standards, Monneaux is an extra-ordinary success, having been in the country's Top 100 list for six years consecutively, on the Top 10 list for two years and winning the American Express Platinum Award for fine dining. The underground cellar is available for private functions where dinner can be enjoyed by an impressive selection of local and foreign wines. The restaurant's bar lounge provide a comfortable environment to relax and enjoy the company you're with. The wine list emphasizes the boutique wines of the Franschhoek Valley as well as an impressive selection of other award winning wines of South Africa

The hotel was lovely but their food amazing.
We had the tasting menu, 5 courses with differents wines all of them top quality.
Lovely beetrout salad and duck confit!! Also dessert was great.
Inviting someone there will not ever be a mistake.
Special mention for the waiters, lovely people (more than the manager).

Food was very good and served by helpful and pleasant staff. Out of town but there is a free cab ride between you lodgings and the restaurant

We booked a business dinner for 24 people. Before the time we could choose what we wanted on the set menue (three choices of starters, three choices of mains, and three choices of dessert)!! - at a very reasonable price. The experience was just super. I just do not have words to describe it! And the venue just complemented the food - we had a wonderful time!

I am a big fan of trip advisor, because the reviews given are honest and unbiased, and most importantly, they aid others in finding suitable places to eat.
We ate in this restaurant after reading the trip advisor reviews and seeing it was ranked 3rd in this area(which is a town that pretty much specialises in food and wine!) and we were therefore looking forward to a very high quality dining experience......which we didn't get.
Firstly, our welcome wasn't friendly, and staff didn't seem that interested in us(they seemed more interested in the older couple who were sitting next to us).
We ordered, but the waiter forgot to place the order so 15mins later we were asked by a different waiter "had we finished our main courses?". It also took 15mins to bring down our wine
Eventually we received our starters, the ostrich, and salt and pepper shrimp. They were fine.
Immediately after our starters we were asked if they could bring down our mains. I asked to wait a few minutes to digest our food. When we got our mains 15mins later, the lamb was over done. the springbok was nice, but not amazing. We had to ask for our wine to be topped up through out.
Dessert was nice, we had Creme brûlée, but at that stage, our dissapointment with the service had pretty much ruined our night.
I would never go back here. There are so many other fantastic restaurants in this town that this one should be avoided.
This by the way is my first poor review on tripadvisor.

We had the 5 course tasting menu for lunch, one with wine paring and one without.Good value and really tasty food.Good selection of mains and very friendly service. The garden setting is so pretty - all you hear is the sound of the water fountains even though you are close to the busy main road. A most enjoyable meal.We will return.
