“What a collection!”

Terrific museum, cars very well displayed in huge buildings, and some great extras like the old bikes.
The wives enjoyed it almost as much as the husbands! Highly recommend.

“A great setting, a great collection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 6, 2013

I seen a listing for this museum in one of the guide books and really didn't expect much of a collection. But what a surprise.
First the setting is amazing, set in the wine country of Franschhoek valley. A drive up a long tree lined lane leads to a parking area and the entrance building. For an modest entrance fee of $6 you proceed out to the four display buildings set two in a row facing each other. The first building has some of the earliest cars built and progresses into the brass era of pre-1915. The other buildings contain a variety of classic 1920 and 1930 luxury cars, sports cars, some racing cars, and some very exotic contemporary ones.
This collection doesn't attempt to be everything to everyone, but contains a very interesting collection of historic and significant cars.
The real treat was to see and hear some of the cars being driven, apparently they do this regularly. The first was a Cobra with its V-8 rumble, and then a Porsche, a McLaren, and a Mustang Cobra.
If you're not a car nut, its definitely worth a visit to see the setting and you'll probably be converted when you leave.

“Best in the world?”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 31, 2013

At the end of a drive through vineyards, set below the rolling hills of the Franschhoek valley sits this fabulous motor museum. The cars cover the history of the automobile from early to recent. They are laid out in four separate buildings, all purpose built. Apparently there is a huge garage underneath where they do restoration and store cars not on show. Like the British Museum you don't see all the collection but what they offer is truly amazing. Priceless early Rolls Royce's and Mercedes. An unbeatable collection of rare Ferraris. A D type Jaguar, Bugattis, Maserattis and one of only 3 DB2/4 Aston Martins ever made and possibly one of the most beautiful ever designed. If you love classic and prestige cars then this has to be your destination of choice. Admission is inexpensive and there is a reduction for car club members. You won't want to leave!

“What a surprise”

Didn't imagine that this collection would be as good as this. Fantastic collection of old and new with vintage Bugatti, Le Mans winning Porsche, Gull wing Mercedes etc., all in excellent condition looking like they are all new.

Very low entry fee makes this a great outing for the whole family even if you aren't a committed 'petrol head'
