A quaint, rustic setting with a simple but excellent menu.

The piano music, live, thru out the evening was a plus.

We had various choices from beef, pork belly and sea bass. Every dish met or exceeded our expectation.

We had lunch at Café BonBon and it was so pleasant that we were could not resist writing a review. Café BonBon is very close to Franschoek, but still far enough to be on a farm. The setting is magnificent on a well manicured farm. The staff efficient and helpful and the food well presented. Lunch is served on the patio or inside the restaurant. On a beautiful day the patio overlooks the lawn, the pond and an old oak tree. They have a very good wine list. Considering the quality and presentation the food is very competitively priced.

If I could I would give this 3.5 but I’ve gone for 3 because the service was not good. We were ignored for most of our visit.

The food was fairly tasty though and there’s a nice feel to the restaurant. Not too expensive either.

Most vineyards and wine estates around Franschhoek have restaurants attached to them. Cafe Bon Bon is part of the La Petite Dauphine estate. Set in magnificent and tranquil grounds with pond and fountain, the place is magical. Everything about it feels special. The menu is extensive and for lunch we opted for a shared charcuterie platter with some lovely bread accompaniments. We followed with a truly eye watering lemon meringue pie - and thankfully opted for two spoons. Two small carafes of the house Sauvignon and coffee and the bill was just over £20 for the two of us in total. Astonishing value in a wonderful setting. If you are visiting Franschhoek - this place is a lunchtime must. Dinner is only served on certain nights so best to check before simply rocking up.

Excellent food and wine, after a week in Franschhoek my wife said "probably the best starter and main that I have had. The cheeseboard was a poor climax but we will let that one go.

The pianist is the stand out thing for this restaurant, he plays for the whole evening, a very wide selection all played without any sheet music! Impressive.
