“Tranquil setting”
Reviewed December 9, 2011

A bit off the beaten track, you need a car to get there from Franschhoek, but worth the visit. Super food, sticky chicken salad a must as is the lemon meringue pie( to die for). Great place for a wedding venue.Lovely Cape Dutch Building and tasting room now too.

“When one more gourmet meal is just one too many”
Reviewed November 23, 2011

Stopped by for a late, lazy lunch on recommendation of our B&B hosts. And a locals' gem it is, tucked away on a hillside away from the main street. Just a few outside tables (they do dinners also apparently, just one night a week), throaty crowing from Hendrick the rooster, friendly service, and simple but garden-fresh food. The kind of place you could stay at for an entire afternoon and wish you had enough holiday left to come back the next day!

“Cute little gem for breakfast in the sun”
Reviewed October 31, 2011

Lovely homebaked bread, fresh everything, old-style house and decor... very quaint. Extremely reasonably priced too.

Breakfast is popular and we know why - still, I would encourage the owners to expand the very limited options to draw more visitors in. Great potential!

“Truly excellent breakfast”
Reviewed October 30, 2011

Cafe Bon Bon, on La Petite Dauphine just outside Franschhoek village, turned out to be an inspired choice for Sunday breakfast (prompted by the helpful Trip Advisor reviews).

The property is outstanding, and (weather permitting) the terrace is the place to sit; the view of the estate grounds is magical.

There is a cold buffet offering a modest but well-chosen selection, and a good variety of hot courses to order. My partner's eggs benedict were declared excellent and worth returning for. My scrambled eggs, crisp bacon and large brown mushroom were done perfectly.

Service was good, and the overall experience was excellent.

“a hidden gem”
Reviewed September 21, 2011

Cafe Bon Bon isn't on the main strip in Franschhoek so is easy to overlook but is well worth the trip (a couple of miles from the centre). The views of wine country from the terrace are superb. The food is hearty, served in large, unfussy portions with none of the pretentiousness of some other Franschhoek restaurants. The staff are genuinely lovely, and there is a surprisingly charismatic rooster called Hendrik who will help you eat your bread if you are stuffed. It was recommended to us by locals and I totally see why.
