“Convenience and Charm”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 21, 2013 via mobile

The Ivy, is conveniently located just off the Main Street, and an easy walk into the village. There is a security gate and secure undercover parking.

The rooms are clean and tidy with modern themed decoration. All the normal facilities associated with self catering are available and were serviceable. Personally I would have liked an oven proof dish and some kitchen tongs, but that is just being me being picky.

Heating was via reverse cycle aircon which to be honest struggled a bit on the colder nights/mornings but the beds are equipped with nice duvets and heated blankets. The beds themselves were comfortable and provided for a great nights sleep.

This was a winter stay and the village was quiet, so the room had no problems with noise from outside.

I would thoroughly recommend The Ivy for those wanting good quality appartment style accomodation in the village.

The Ivy was a beauty to behold, in the middle of all the 'action' of Franschoek.

It's located on the main street, easy walking distance from the famous Reuben's restaurant, and all of the other wonderful little shops and eateries in the area.

The best thing about the place I would say however is the comfort, luxury and beauty of the apartments themselves.

The service that we received from Lisa and Willy was impeccable. I must say a special thanks to them for leaving a lovely bottle of Graham Beck sparkling wine in the fridge for my Mom who was celebrating her birthday on that weekend.

Thanks again. We had a great time.

I will definately recommend a stay at The Ivy. Walking distance to great restaurants and shops. Luxuriously furnished.
Thank you Wellington for the reception late at night and allowing us to view the other apartments should we have a future visit.
I will recommend underfloor heating, dual pane aluminium windows for heat retention and noise cancellation when doing a future upgrade.

We just spent a weekend at the Ivy apartments during the Franschoek Literary Festival (which was absolutely brilliant by the way). Anyway our apartment, no 4, was beautifully bright and decorated really nicely in a contemporary bright style.

They didn't have the cot which we'd ordered and there isn't much personal support around, so we just put the little one in the bed and I slept on the couch. Not ideal.

The apartment is really well equipped and even though the weather was great, you could see the re were more than enough heaters to warm the place up if the temperatures dropped. It's well located on the main street through the village and feels very secure.

My main gripe is that there is no obvious reception and rarely anyone there to handle queries. You have to hunt around the complex to find anyone. Checking out was a mission as there was no one around to leave the key with, so we drove back later which was inconvenient. (We needed the key to open the gate, but were a bit stuck on how to leave the key and close the gate at the same time, in case you thought we were completely brainless)

When we did return, we saw a sign on the big gate for cars saying it was broken and stick. Potentially tough for those inside wanting to leave.

Despite all this, I'd recommend it - but think they need to improve their reception availability for the short term guests.

Good clean accommodation and good location.
Air conditioners/heaters a bit noisy I thought as condensers close to the rooms.
I would however book again as quality of good standard and the staff were great!!

We were very surprised on arrival to find that our apartment was a lavishly decorated two bedroomed affair, and would have loved to have stayed much longer than the two nights that we did. The block is situated very centrally and is perfect for walking and dining. Wellington was very welcoming and helpful, and we will be recommending this to everyone we know that is staying in Franschhoek.

Perfect place to stay with a family. Great location right in town. Very modern clean and safe with friendly staff. Very easy to walk to everything. We also visited Solms Delta for a picnic. If you have time, I highly recommend.
