Description: Franschhoek's iconic Haute Cabriere Restaurant is well known for its unique location, set into the side of Franschhoek Mountain and overlooking the Valley. Soaring arches and the view over the cathedral-like Pinot Noir Barrel Maturation Cellar below offer an experience which is not to be missed. On sunny days, guests can enjoy the beautiful vistas over Franschhoek from the terrace, while on cool days a roaring fire creates a cosy atmosphere. The menu revolves around classic technique with bold flavours with chefs Nic van Wyk and Westley Muller in the kitchen. The flavours and textures on the plate are specifically designed to complement the range of Haute Cabrière wines and Pierre Jourdan Cap Classiques - all of them served by the glass and by the bottle at cellar door prices. Bringing all of these elements together, Haute Cabrière offers the true marriage of food and wine.

This was one if the restuarants on our list if things to do. The meats lacked seasoning. Two of the dishes had ice cold items plated on them e.g. springbok fillet with ice cold lentil salad, probably from the fridge. A nice touch wad the decorated buscuit wishing us a happy anniversary !
On booking we were asked about dietary requirements and I mentioned lactose intolerance - I don't expect the average restaurant to specialy cater however if you ask then you should arrange something and this is not supposed to be an average restuarant. As an example there are four starters, 3 with cream and the other is oysters and the amuse bouche had a milk foam which could have been left off.

We love the wine but I dont think we will return for the food.

We enjoyed every moment of our dinner close to the fire place on a very cold night. Had complimentary welcome drinks, wonderful bread platter and the meals were outstanding. Service very good.

We dined here in the evening, out of season, so there were not many table occupied. The restaurant obviously has a beautiful view, so lunch might be a better option. Service was friendly. Food was good.

We chose the Table d'Haute menu (named for the winery). The location is outstanding and we had the privilege of meeting Ryan Shell, the chef. We chose his tasting menu, which included some unusual takes on food. The de-constructed cream of onion soup was really enjoyable. The pairings worked well, although not all of the wines were to our taste.

Hi Andrew D,

Many thanks for visiting and your review. The Table d'Haute menu is one of our most popular menu choices and one Chef Ryan probably enjoys the most with the ever changing ingredients he chooses.

Thank you once again and look forward to seeing you again soon.
