A beautiful ambience, lovely surround, beautiful gardens, helpful staff, very good breakfast, close to town. However it does need a little TLC. as per other comments the safe needed batteries, the water was brown, the second key did not open the door, a light required a new bulb, however I would recommend this place.

There is very little that isn't special about this place. Rooms are spectator, location is spectacular. The service is very comfortable and friendly which makes this a lovely place to stay. The food is not great which is my only compliant. A little touch and go.

Stayed from Easter Monday for three nights. The bedrooms are large and have everything you need. The location is just out of town, we did walk one night but thought better of it the night after as its isolated and dark. The breakfast one day was a l carte and the next day was self service which I found strange but was excellent. The hotel appears to be going through changes as the restaurant closed in the evening whilst we were there so check before you go if you do not want a walk into town but they still did room service. I eat the first night and although the food was lovely there was only four people eating including us. because it was quiet there was no atmosphere in the bar. great place for conference or wedding. at the price we paid i would go again. All staff were friendly and helpful, they still do a bed turn down service which is rare theses days.

Wonderful setting. Our room overlooked the lake. The room was beautiful with its own balcony. Room service provided a great simply cooked meal. Staff were friendly and helpul. The grounds are lovely too. This was our favourite hotel in our tour of SA.

Room Tip: One in the chateau overlooking the lake.

Our room wasn't ready so we walked to town. If you have a car, the location is not an issue but the walk is too far for anyone with mobility issues and poorly lit at night. Cabs are not plentiful so for that reason alone, I wish we had stayed in town or at least closer to town. The setting is lovely, but the villa feels somewhat sterile and lacks any warmth or ambience. The spa was closed ( could not determine whether this was permanent or for the season) and the delicatessen is now a very lonely looking sushi restaurant. I did not try the main restaurant but saw limited choices in the menu.
Aside from the carpet which was looking tired and in need of a cleaning and a shower which didn't drain properly, things were in order in the room. On a positive note, the room is very spacious with a full living area, kitchenette, bedroom and ensuite.
Back to the reception. After returning from town, someone met us with our room key and took us there but the glass of bubbly was never offered, nor were we told breakfast was included or the time it was offered. We sat in the reception area to access wifi on several occasions and none of the staff stopped to say hello, inquired about the day or asked if we wanted something to drink. I think if they invest in training their staff and paid attention to the details that make or break a stay, this could be a much improved experience. Final note- wifi in the rooms would be appreciated.
