“Weekend Away for a wedding”
Reviewed November 28, 2013

Our stay was magical and very luxurious - my sister and I enjoyed our stay and would love to have stayed longer. The views were wonderful and it was very peaceful. We enjoyed the breakfast menu and would love to come back one day.

Very welcoming and unpretentious small amazing boutique hotel place in the middle of the wine country Paarl/Stellenbosch/Fransshoek.
Wonderful personal that is very service minded. The natural pool is incredible both in terms of design and usage.

It takes a lot to achieve perfection in every detail, but we think it is what you have done here. To list what we first think of it's lovely staff, relaxation factor, the rooms, the restaurant's class, view, interior, exterior. Must stop there, but what more can you ask for? Well, even a very cute cat staying outdoors ^-^

Cathberty Country Inn was recommended to us and we were not disappointed. Such a beautiful setting and so tranquil. We were in a lovely little cottage room which was beautifully decorated. The complimentary mini bar was an unexpected but lovely touch. The owners were very helpful and gave us some great tips on the best places to go wine tasting. The food amongst the best we had during our trip. Both accomodation and food were very reasonably priced and a lovely setting in which to eat. Overalll we couldn't have wished for more.

Cathbert has been revamped and renamed. The essentials remain still serving the best french toast for breakfast although I think they serve the best breakfast I have ever come across. The rooms have absolutely everything you could possibly want (including a kitchenette, functional wifi and complementary minibar). What can one critique? Well the ecco pool is quirky to say the least and adding a normal pool for those that do not wish to swim with tadpoles and sundry wildlife would probably be appreciated by many guest and room 6 which is a wonderful suite should have the air conditioner moved from the lounge to the bedroom for the hot days from December to February. Otherwise it is an ideal location for those who expect everything.

Stayed at this property for one night as we had a wedding in the winery that is on the same property. It's even nicer than in the pictures and we actually got upgraded to a two bedroom unit. Breakfast was great and the room bars were stocked with complimentary wine, etc. Overall a great place and I highly recommend it.

After spending three amazing days in Camps Bay, we moved on to wine country and are so happy we decided to stay overnight rather than a day trip. We stayed two nights in Franschhoek and loved every minute of it. Angala is about a 15 min drive outside the small downtown area of Franschhoek proper, very easy to get to from Cape Town by car. The grounds are beautiful, very private, tucked away. The rooms have neutral tones, organic textures, it feels like an ad from Restoration Hardware- very well done. Also an added bonus is a fully stocked complimentary mini bar! The breakfast options were excellent and the staff all very helpful. We had dinner one night with Angala which was overall good, could do with a few more options but all well-prepared. I would highly recommend staying here for your trip to wine country.
