We had dinner at The Tasting Room to celebrate the end of our three-week trip to Southern Africa as well as the 30th wedding anniversary of our friends. After reading reviews in prestigious publications like Wine Spectator, we were excited to experience the cuisine. To say the least, the food was awful! Being creative with presentation should never replace the taste of a well-prepared meal. For the most part, our group could be considered "adventurous" when it comes to trying new things. However, after several unappealing courses which I can't even describe, we were anxious to get back to our hotel. The staff did not acknowledge the anniversary celebration which was another disappointment for our friends. As we watched the other diners react to their food, we remembered the fairy tale, The Emperor's New Clothes. Was the food really good, or did the diners simply pretend that it was good? You decide!
