Food is delicious, service wonderful, and they don't take things too seriously. You get a better table if you stay at the hotel, I think.

“Do not miss this experience!!!”
Reviewed March 3, 2013

When we found out that The Tasting Room is routinely voted one of the top restaurants in the world and was at the hotel we were staying at in Franschhoek, we immediately made reservations. We were very much looking forward to our dinner here, and it did not disappoint!

We both have food allergies, and they had no problem altering each course if needed (we did let them know about our allergies when we booked).

Each course was like fine dining comfort food, and the fusion of flavors phenomenal! And the wine pairing was perfect! Yes, it was the most expensive meal we had (by far) in our 2 weeks in South Africa, but totally worth every penny (rand ;)! It really is a dining experience not to be missed!

“Creative and fresh - a match for any Michelin restaurant”
Reviewed March 1, 2013

The food was varied, interesting and most of all, a taste sensation. I'm generally not one for tasting menus, but this place far exceeded any previous ones. The staff were friendly, informative and had the right amount of attentiveness. It costs a lot, but here, you get what you pay for.

“A wonderful evening”
Reviewed February 27, 2013

I am the client from hell because of all my food allergies. I explained this to them at lunch time and they told me it would be no problem. They designed the dishes around me. Not only has this not happened before anywhere, but I was made to feel so comfortable. Any how delicious!!

“Wonderful experience”
Reviewed February 26, 2013

If you are staying at the hotel or not, book a table for the famous South African tasting menu. Friendly and capable service, excellent food prepared in ways you have not seen before, great wine pairings. Yes it is expensive, but truly a memorable experience not to be missed.
