After getting a table here having tried two other restaurants and being told they were fully booked on a Monday night, we ended up here by chance. The restaurant had a nice French themed ambience and the waitress was attentive, taking our order promptly and checking everything was ok. The choice of food including the specials was good although they had run out of the oysters on the specials board. We both had T-bone steak. I asked for mine medium and it was really still too rare despite them offering to cook it further. My partners was rare as he liked it. The steaks weere very good in general and at 145 rand, very reasonable. The starter was lovely. We had the charcuterie platter. Desserts were nice but not out of this world.

The French Connection is in the centre of Franschhoek by many of the shops. We found the service to be exceptionally slow and the food very average including a greasy steak sandwich.

Dining is casual which is fine for a quick lunch. Staff seemed very uninterested in serving us.

French Connection came recommended to us and we weren't disappointing. It was a nice informal alfresco dinning experience on Franschhoek main street on a warm summers night. Neither myself or my wife are big steak eaters, but the quality of the steaks here are to die for. Would recommend booking ahead if you want a table outside, as was busy the 2 night we stayed in the town. The staff are friendly and helpful. Great food, great service, good value.

First night of our stay so quite tired, therefore we were glad it was in the centre of town. Nice atmosphere and good menu. Very busy the night we went but service most efficient.

The kingclip was delicious, and the Le Motte Savignon Blanc was a perfect complement. The service was superb, and sitting out side on a cool evening was refreshing. We would recommend to anyone visiting Franschhoek.
