Review of Supertubes

Supertubes
Reviewed April 22, 2014 via mobile

The best time to visit Jbay and super tubes is during the winter months of June July August . The surf can be super crowded and be careful you don't arrive when there are competitions on the go . Other paddle out take off and enjoy the perfect right that is supertubes . There are also numerous other breaks in the area and a surf school if you want to learn to surf . Only a surfer knows the feeling .

If you want to ride the best point break in the world, then you have to surf Supertubes. I grew up in Port Elizabeth and surfed here for 5 years before I moved away for University and the again for Work. I returned after a 20 year hiatus (I now live in North America) and the wave is as perfect as it always was. Pictures are posted (see below). Parking can sometimes be a problem, so get there early. No beach showers that I could see, so bring a bucket and some water bottles to rinse off. Watch the locals enter and exit the break so you can follow their lead and please be mellow in the water. This is one of the wonders of the surf world and you need to respect it and those that live here.

Supertubes and the related breaks is whey I came to J-Bay!
Even when it's not breaking, ya gotta make a pilgrimage to this iconic surf-break.

Beautiful to look at, difficult to get into the sea (takes skill) to surf. Depending on which parking lot you go to, one of them has toilets and also a braai area with some grass for the doggies and kiddies.
