“Luxury accommodation in a lovely Karoo setting of hills & game, with excellent food served at the restaurant. Friendly & efficie”
Reviewed January 13, 2013 via mobile

Be prepared for a final 45 minute drive on gravel road before arriving at the reception area. But the drive is worth it. Excellent accommodation in a lovely Karoo setting of rolling hills where the game roam & hide. Each villa has a balcony for you to enjoy the night sky, sunrise, & sunset. The restaurant serves top knotch fare. Nice small pool for cooling off on a hot day. Exciting game drives each day to spot elephants, cheetahs, lions, kudus, springbok, rhinos, Cape buffalos, zebras, monkeys. The elephants & zebras came close to the lodge when we were there. The friendly rangers even packed wine, cheese, & refreshments for a short break during the afternoon drives. Friendly & efficient staff always eager to please. A great place to relax & enjoy the tranquility. A bright starry night sky is there for you also on most nights.

If you're looking for back-to-basics safari experience this is not the place for you. If however you're looking for luxurious, well planned and maintained accommodation with excellent food and wine this is it! We stayed two nights and experienced four exhilarating game drives with our guide Romeo. He was brilliant and really made the trip interesting and exciting, finding lions, cheetahs, rhino, elephants, buffalo and many species of deer and other animals and birds. We got really close to most of the animals and it was breathtaking. The lodges are amazing and all have endless views of the reserve. The outside seating areas are a lovely place to have a quiet drink and just relax after a busy day. All the staff are friendly and helpful and go out of their way to make your stay a special one. Unforgettable experience!

We stayed two nights, the luxurious accomodation built in traditional african style was large, comfortable, and spotless. The layout of the lodges take full advantage of the wonderfull views and are so positioned you feel you are the only person there. The food, the hotel facilities and the staff were excellent,i would also like to mention that the hotel manager was outstanding.
As a result of a long drought they have lost alot of animals and they are working very to replace them, and they deserve all the support thet can get.

It was a long drive from Cape Town and well worth it! On arrival we just had the time for a cup of tea before being whisked off on our first game drive, which didn't disappoint. A number of game species were spotted, kudu, Cape mountain zebra, Burchill's zebra and then the chance sighting of a jackal picking at the remains of a kudu that had recently been dispatched by lions; the smells are the additional dimension you don't get with David Attenborough! After a short search our Ranger, Freddie, located the replete lions lying feet up in the long grass, showing-off their huge bellies after the feast. The excitement is heightened by the off-road driving skills of the rangers and their fast tyre changes, that rivals an F1 Team. There are also refreshments served by the rangers in the bush, allowing sometime to chat to others about their big game experiences and even Spanish politics! On our return to the Lodge we were offered hot towels, it had been a cold windy drive – hot drives were followed by cold towels an excellent attention to detail. After a quick change it was time for a superb dinner efficiently served by the restaurant team, Zoe and Zito being two of the attentive staff that spring to mind. It was then early to bed to be up and ready for the 5.30 am game drive in the cool of the morning. On the four drives we made we saw four of the ‘big 5’ the only one of the line-up not spotted was the elusive leopard. The Head Ranger at Kuzuko, Freddie Van Rayner, lead all our drives and is highly knowledgeable, a skilled off-road driver and adept at spotting well camouflaged game at great distances. The additional activities, drinks and shop merchandise are very well priced, although do check your itemised bill for errors, one of our fellow guests was charged for the cheetah walk that I went on, fortunately we were both checking out at the same time and it was all was sorted out very quickly and in good humour.

Room Tip: Take your binoculars, all rooms look out over the reserve and you can spot baboons from you bath tub...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights in October.
Being located high on a ridge top the views are simply amazing.
The rooms are large, very well fitted out and also have stunning views from the patio and most windows including from the bath.
The meals are very good and generous in their portions.
The road to the property is dirt and when wet can be slippery but if driven carefully a 2WD car should not experience any problems.
Unfortunately prior to our arrival there had been an unseasonally high amount of rain that meant many of the game drive tracks were inaccessible and on a few occasions planned drives were cancelled. To Kuzuko's credit they offered discounted spa treatments as compensation.
The wet conditions meant that we only managed to go on 2 drives and given the still heavily restricted track access they didn't result in many game sightings. In trying to satisfy the guests desire to sight game on both occasions the vehicles became bogged but nonetheless we enjoyed the adventure of the rescues that were carried out whilst surrounded by buffalo and with lions close by.
The staff are very friendly and welcoming. A big hello and thank you in particular to Andrew, Gretchen and Romeo who somehow managed to find a camera memory card we misplaced in a game drive vehicle.
We can highly recommend Kuzuko.

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our 2 week holiday. What a lovely place the rooms are supurb as are the staff. The food is fantastic, you will not go hungry. The game drives are an experience, we went out with Freddie who is so passionate about the whole thing, whether it's a flower or shrub right up to the animals, this guy loves his job. As previous people have said don't expect the animals to be lining up for you, it's quite a bumpy drive trying to locate them. In all we saw everything we hoped to and even got close to the Elephants, Bufferlo cheetah lions and on the last morning a Rhino came crashing out of the bush. Areally nice touch is in the evenings if it's cold the maids put a hot water bottle in your bed !!. a truly memorable holiday made even better by this lovely lodge.

We spent 3 nights at Kuzuko last week. The food was fabulous. The team who took care of us in the restaurant were so warm and friendly and discrete however very professional. We would like to mention Frankie, Elton and Melissa who are doing an outstanding job.
The accommodation was lovely, private, specious with outstanding views (which you could lay in the bath and look out at).
The reason we were there - "The Game Drives" - there are really no words that can explain what an extraordinary experience these were. We saw so many animals, lions, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, elephants, wildebeest and so many more. The really special part was our guide Freddie - he explained so much about getting the balance of animals right for the game reserve and their natural habits etc... Freddie is an asset to the business.
We would HIGHLY recommend Kuzuko Lodge!
