“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 10, 2012

We have been going to Wildwood Crest for years and swithched back to the Pan Am after staying at another hotel for years. We missed our former hotel - loved the location and the staff. I can't say that the Pam Am is as warm and friendly, but the room was nicer and the mattresses much, much more comfortable which is why we switched. The kids missed the slide into the pool, but the Pam Am pool is very nice and I liked that there was a lifeguard around most of the time. The only negative was that the AC in the room only had one temperature - we either froze (even my husband who likes it cold) or had to turn it off. The staff said they would try to adjust and did seem aware of the issue, but didn't correct it. I can easily recommend this hotel since it is very nice. We will most likely select it again for next year's week at the beach.

We stayed here for the 1st time and enjoyed all that if offered. We arrived early and took advantage of the changing room so we could wait poolside until our room was ready. The renovated Deja Blue room #201 was very nice. The room was newly decorated and king size bed very comfortable. Our room was located on the opposite side of the building away from the pool overlooking the park which has basketball courts and a playground. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony and watching all the activity going on around us. We also took advantage of the refrigerator, microwave and safe, came in handy. One thing I wished they had was a full length mirror. There was a mirror above the sink but useless in trying to look at a full view when dressing to go out. We ate in their restaurant, Alosi's Bistro. Breakfast and lunch were reasonable and good but the dinners started at $20 a little more than we had hoped to pay but was worth it. The one thing mentioned in their advertisement was a heated pool....the pool wasn't heated but well maintained. It also had a snack counter to purchase snacks and lunch items. We will definitely be staying here again.

Room Tip: If you want to sit on the balcony in the shade and enjoy people watching, room 201 is great for that...

As good as any Marriott minus only some minor amenities. If the pool had food service poolside and drinks, (which are not legal in Wildwood Crest) This would be the ideal place to stay. But since it does not have alcoholic service it is ideal for families. The room variety is terrific, especially the suites. We would only stay at the PA (or possibly the sister Hotel The Port Royal) when in Wildwood.

Room Tip: Oceanfront Suites are best. Spend the extra it it is worth it

I just got back from staying the week at the Pan American. We had a great time! The rooms were very nice and the beds very comfortable (unlike most of the cheesy shore motels we stayed at). We were originally only staying three nights but we inquired if there were any open rooms to stay a 4th night. At first there wasn't but suddenly they called me and said one opened up so we took it! The first nights were in the deja blue room which was just recently renovated. The last night we stayed in the summer breeze room. Everyone at the front desk was very friendly and helpful. My sunglasses were broken and they were very helpful with telling me the best place to get new ones. Only downsides: no complementary coffee (seriously, even the dinkiest places offer free coffee) and the pool closes very early at 7pm. The on site restaurant was nice and convient, though, we only ate there once. The location is very nice. I like staying in the crest away from the noise yet it was close enough to walk to the boardwalk. It is also right next to a playground and basketball courts which was great! The was our first time at the Pan American and it certainly won't be our last!

We have stayed at the Pan American Hotel in Wildwood Crest in the past and love its decor, amenities and great location to the beach. This summer we decided pretty much at the last minute to vacation in Wildwood and were able to get our five nights in July (due to a last-minute cancellation). Our 4th floor room was the Ocean Serenade with two very comfortable queen-sized beds and a queen sofa-bed (great with two teenage kids), a kitchenette and two TVs and DVD player. Dined in most nights. Great oceanfront view for those lazy, Jersey shore evenings sipping on a Sangria or beer.

The always fun Wildwood Boardwalk is just around the corner. Also recommend the Thundercat speedboat dolphin watching excursion. The many dolphins dancing and jumping in the waves were spectacular to see and experience. The kids really enjoyed jumping and boogie board surfing the ocean waves and spending quality time at the hotel's well-maintained and life-guard secured pool. The Pan American Hotel has become our preferred vacation destination that is within ten hours drive from our Canadian Ottawa home. Truly a Wildwood gem!

We have been trying to stay at the Pan American for several years but due to all of the repeat customers it has been very difficult to book the 3 rooms we need. We finally succeeded this year and had a wonderful stay. The hotel is well maintained and updated in a retro/travel type theme. We had two rooms that were renovated a few years ago and 1 room that was renovated over this past winter. All were very nice with granite counters, nice furniture, and clean fully updated bathrooms. The beds were very comfortable, some of the best we have had in Wildwood. All the rooms have a great view of the ocean, since there are no hotels adjacent to the Pan American, views are generally unobstructed north towards the boardwalk and south down the bike path. The location is excellent, its an easy 5-10 minute walk to the boardwalk and is also near the Crest Pier which offers great views of the beach. There is a restaurant on premises called Alosi's Bistro, we ate breakfast and dinner there several times, the food is excellent, highly recommended. As for service, all of the staff we encountered was extremely friendly. We had a problem with our refrigerator which stopped working and since it was too late in the evening to bring up a new one, Greg at the front desk kindly allowed us to use their meeting room refrigerator. Maintenance had a new refrigerator for us promptly the next morning. I have only one minor complaint, and that is with the A/C system in the hotel. The hotel has central air conditioning, but there are no thermostats in the rooms, only a switch to control the A/C fan speed (Off/Low/Medium/High), so basically even on Low, the room never stops cooling which is fine during the hot day, but at night it can get real cold, and turning it off causes the room to get very stuffy. But in the end, this wasn't a big deal, we just stayed under the covers. The Pan American is a great, always renovated hotel with a friendly staff and a location that can't be beat. We enjoyed ourselves so much we all booked the same rooms again for next Summer. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone!

Room Tip: Rooms facing south get lots of wonderful sunlight during the day. Try to stay on the 3rd or 4th floo...
