We liked the favorable reviews of this place and decided to stay here. Everything was to our satisfaction and we'll return. Clean, comfortable and reasonable with a view of the ocean on the upper floors. Block from the beach in a quiet area of wildwood. We chuckled about the noisy exhaust fan in the bathroom but it did the job very well and fast !
Bring shampoo and towels for the beach. Take time to enjoy the mini golf, pool, arcade, or ping pong on premise. Grills and outdoor seating provided. The sofa bed was comfortable ! Definitely family friendly, yet quiet for couples. Old hotel kept nicely in the retro doo wop look.

We went on our first family vacation to the Wildwoods this summer. We have a 5 yr old, and a 2 yr old. The Compass was affordable for our budget. Our room was nice we got a "type C' room, a double bed, and a double pull out sofa. We had a little kitchenette that was perfectly stocked with utensils, pots, pans and dishes. The room was neat and clean when we arrived.
The hotel offers ping pong, mini golf, a game room (only had a few games but was great for our kids when we were coming and going they each got a couple quarters each time and were very happy) the pool was nice, not huge but good sized for people to cool off and relax.
We were a block away from the beach, and several blocks from the boardwalk, the walk was fine for us as adults, the kids did get tired after walking to the boardwalk, then up and down the boardwalk, then back to the hotel, (we could have drove down to the boardwalk , but chose not to).
The people at the desk were very nice, we had to put a deposit down for our room keys, and had a key break while we were trying to use it, we thought we would loose our deposit, but at check-out time we got our deposit back...everyone was friendly and easy going.
We would stay here again...but will probably look for a hotel a little closer to the boardwalk next year.

So my family has been going to Wildwood for about 20 years. This was our first trip to the Compass. We took up about 15 rooms for the week, so I got to see every type of room. I travel alot and stay is some very nice places and for me this was a treat. It's obvioulsly not a five star hotel but when it comes to hospitality it has six stars. Irene the owner and her family are the most accomidating hosts you could as for. From helping you find a local hotspot, to addressing any issues or questions, they strived their best to be as helpful as possible. The rooms are clean. The air conditions can blow ice cubes. The pool was clean and the right temperature. The only thing I was not happy about was the fact we had to leave. The beds are a little firm which was okay for me but a few family members were used to softer ones. So if you are going to Wildwood or want to give the Compass a try!

Our family took a four day vacation to Wildwood. We have stayed at The Compass three times in the past 12 years. We arrived 4 hours prior to check in becuase we wanted to beat the traffic on 4th of July weekend. The staff allowed us to use a restroom to change our clothes so my children could swim or go to the beach and later allowed us to check in 3 hours early free of charge! The staff is very friendly and accomadating. They keep the motel and the grounds very clean. Although the motel rooms are a bit outdated they do the best with the space they have. They offer free use of their BBQ grills. They have a nice pool with a diving board that is sectioned off for families with toddlers and young children, a game room, minature golf and table tennis. The motel is only a block from the beach. The boardwalk is about 12 blocks away but there is a trolly that will bring you there for $2.50 per person or you can find plenty of parking meters or parking lots all around the board walk. There is plenty of parking and the owners offered to allow us to stay parked there for a few hours after we checked out if we would like.

My family first stayed at the compass 2006/2007 - we always enjoyed our stay there but felt the rooms were a little small and did not like their AC set up. They have a window unit in the BR which can be quite noisy and so we went on to try other hotels in WW with central air.

I personally always liked the Compass. The rooms are clean but they are bit run down and could be updated. The staff is friendly and helpful and yes they are always cleaning so from that standpoint it is a clean hotel. I had a C room which has a very nice view and also private since it was at the end. But again, it was a little run down in the kitchen area and could use a complete update with furniture/TV etc. The AC unit worked fine but that too was an older model.

My family and I of FOUR traveled to Wildwood Crest last summer. We stayed at the Compass Family Resort and had a great time. We've been coming to the Compass once every couple of years since we like to mix up our destinations, but have made some friends there.

We love seeing the same faces year in and year out and the staff is a pleasure. They are very clean. We saw the pool boy out early in the morning prepping the whole pool area for the whole day. Every lounge chair is put in ti's place and there isn't anything laying around that shouldn't be. The grilles are cleaned everyday and there is someone always walking around sweeping the property.

The rooms could be bigger, but they make up for that with cleanliness. Rooms in all of wildwood tend to be small, so that is something that we deal with since we were hardly EVER in the room. It looks like they are always doing something. Nothing is "old" in the rooms or around the hotel. I've seent them do something new every year.

We really enjoy our time spent at the Compass in Wildwood Crest! There are so many things to look forward to and the kids LOVE the pool being open late. (I think 10:00 pm everyday)....

I hope this helps some of you make a decision. I just booked my stay for next year. The kids woudln't stop pushing to go back to Compass. They love the animals on the golf course!

We have been going to the Compass for 20 years. We got engaged at the compass in 1988. The only time we missed was when our kids were born. The compass is a great family motel. The staff is very friendly and always right there if you need help with anything. The maid service is fast and very, very good. Always polite and ready to provide us with extra towels and patient when I cant get my teens out of bed on time! The Compass is just across the street from the beach. So great not to have to drive to the beach. The rooms are very clean and roomy and private. Some rooms offer an effiency to cook your own meals. We bring food and cook in the room and on the grilss they provide. They offer a small minature golf course for the little ones as well as shuffle board and ping pong. Great hotel to just hang at at night. They offer late night swimming which the kids love. They are located close to a park and many resturants, some in walking distance. The trolley can pick you up right at the hotel and take you to the board walk. they have a game room for when the kids get board or it is rainy. I love the game room when I want some peace and quiet getting showered or making dinner. I can just kick the kids and my husband down to the game room. I highly recommend the compass motel for a family vacation. If we didnt love it, we wouldnt have gone for 20 years in a row. Irene, George and their 2 sons go out of their way to make us happy every year. Thank you
