“Will Definitely Go Back!”
Reviewed August 7, 2008

They have a great location on the Crest! It's located right at the beginning of the boardwalk, so once you're done walking for the night, you don't have far to go to get to your room.

They have the best restaurant that serves an amazing breakfast and the service is the best we found during our 6 days in the Crest.

Our room was 401 (a C3 type) and it was very quiet since it's a corner room and there is a storage closet on the other side. It was near the stairs and elevator. The elevator is kind of slow during busy times of day, so the stairs came in handy.

The staff are friendly and quite accommodating.

It's directly on the beach so you don't have to cross any streets to access the beach.

The housekeeping staff were always ready to clean our room and provided ample towels, toilet paper, soap, etc.

They do not provide any other toiletries, so remember to bring your own. Also, they don't use provide hand towels for the bath, but give you plenty of full bath towels to use to dry to your hands.

  • Liked — location to beach/boardwalk
  • Disliked — slow elevator, which is why I wouldn't recommend this for older travelers or those with disabilities.

We just returned from a four night stay - July 14 - 18th. Some background - I was traveling with my sister and her daughters -- we're in our 50's and had a 10-year old, and two 19 year olds with us. We've vacationed in *The Wildwoods* since we were little girls, and have experienced every kind of accommodation possible -- including the worst of the worst. I would consider this hotel "average" for Wildwood.

We booked a C-1 2 room suite, ours was on the second floor. We liked the second floor because of the huge oceanfront balcony located on this level (for use by the entire hotel) right down the hall. Our "view" was advertised as boardwalk; in reality we were looking at the hotel across the street from the balcony.

The room was very clean and tidy, decorated in typical 80's furniture and colors. The beds were very hard and were covered in plastic. Our room had a King and Double bed in the bedroom, and a full-sized pull out couch in the other room where the kitchenette was located. (this room sleeps six, additional charge for each person over 4).

The kitchenette included a two-burner electric stove, full-sized refrigerator, microwave, coffeemaker, mugs/dishes/flatware. Small selection of pots. Bring coffee filters with you! There was also a decent sized dining table with six chairs.

The location of this hotel is excellent -- right on the beach at the very end of the boardwalk -- a quick tram ride and you are right in the middle of everything.

The bathroom was very clean -- no mold (for a Jersey shore hotel this is an accomplishment!!). Minimal toiletries are provided -- bring your own. There was a hairdryer, washcloths and bath towels but the motel does NOT have hand towels. The exhaust fan didn't work very well.

All in all the room was in good condition. My only issue was with the air conditioning unit, which is a wall unit that was located in the living room area. In order for the bedroom to remain cool you had to crank that A/C unit up! So, the LR was ice cold! Central a/c would have been better.

The word "typical" keeps popping up -- that's what I think about the pool area. Nice lounge chairs, squeezed together. Much saving of chairs early in the morning. SIGH. When will people realize that you don't have to save them -- if no one did this chairs would be available! The hotel itself is non-smoking. Not so the pool and other outdoor areas. I've never seen so many smokers in one place! Lots of ashtrays and cigarette cones everywhere.

This hotel had a restaurant, we only ate breakfast there and it was very good. The food was plentiful, I'd say the pricing was standard for a resort area that makes the majority of their money in a short season. Try the pancakes -- they were very good!

This hotel has an elevator and a parking garage. Still, parking is tight as it is at every other Wildwood hotel.

  • Liked — Location, free wi-fi
  • Disliked — pool area smokers, no central air conditioning (wall only units)

Our family stayed at the Adventurer Oceanfront Inn for a long weekend in June. We loved the location of the hotel so much. You are right at the end of the boardwalk. We also liked our rooms. We had an 1 bedroom with 2 double beds and a pullout couch. The little kitchen area was fine and our room over looked the pool.
The rooms were clean and the air conditioner was cold. The hotel pool was clean and in good shape. They had lots of parking and also an underground lot which was idea. Once you are parked you really don't need your car since the boardwalk & tram are right there. I have nothing bad to say except the elevators are slow and there are only 2. GREAT HOTEL! I would stay there again.

My family booked an oceanfront room at the Adventurer for the long Fourth of July weekend.

Having stayed in various hotels throughout the Wildwoods since my childhood, I am well aware of the overall poor quality of accomodations (for many years, we would only stay at the El Coronado, but sadly that too has rapidly gone downhill). It has always puzzled me that a decent hotel room is almost impossible to find in the Crest, which has hands-down the most beautiful beach in NJ.

That said, I really could find very little wrong with the Adventurer. Our room was spotless, beds were comfy (I like a firm bed), and the staff was pleasant. Though this is an older hotel, it is very well-maintained.

The restaurant had tasty Greek diner-type food, and service was polite and efficient. My son loved the peanut butter pancakes!

The best feature for families is that it is right at the end of the boardwalk, so for tired tots worn out by the boards, it's a short walk from the tram car. We parked our car and did not move it the whole weekend.

This hotel is not spectacular, and in any other town would not be ranked 4th best, but in this town of crappy flea-bag flophouses, it is highly recommended.

  • Liked — Location on the beach & boardwalk, cleanliness, restaurant, game room, heated pool
  • Disliked — Extremely slow elevators, spotty wireless Internet service (best by the game room).

My family and I (including two children and husband) just returned from a week stay at The Adventurer Oceanfront Inn. We stayed in RM # 314 which was poolside and had a partial ocean view. I cannot say enough nice things about this hotel. The room size was nice, the hotel and room were very clean, housekeeping came every morning and did a wonderful job. The pool was open from 9am – 9pm and I noticed on some nights people were in the pool a little later. The location is great because you are right on the ocean and at the end of the boardwalk. You can either walk to the amusement area of the boardwalk (which is not far) or catch the tramcar. I think The Adventurer’s website does not do it justice. They should update their website with new pictures of their front desk area and some room pictures. There cardio room (gym area) is also nice and modern with a flat screen tv. Our check in/out was a breeze which was a plus with having a little one. We did not have any problems with parking and actually parked our SUV daily in the garage. There is a restaurant on site that we ate at several times for breakfast (with our package breakfast was included). We really enjoyed our stay and looking forward to making Wildwood a yearly family trip! The elevators are slow so we rarely used them unless we had to other than that we just took the steps.

  • Liked — Very close to everything and clean
  • Disliked — No ramp for disabled or strollers at the front entrance

We just came back from our first visit to Wildwood Crest and the Jersey shore. (We chose Wildwood Crest due to responses from Trip Advisor!) We loved this hotel and would tell anyone that this is the best one:
1. Ocean Front rooms - directly facing the ocean
2. Kitchenettes and fridge for cooking
3. Very clean
4. Next to the boardwalk so you don't have to walk as far
We loved the area for our teens who had a great time. Thanks trip advisor!
