“Very nice for Jersey Shore”
Reviewed September 25, 2013

We've stayed at quite a few motels on the Jersey Shore and this is one of the nicest we've encountered. It is an older motel but the bathroom has been redone recently and it's very nice. The separate bed room with King size bed was a nice surprise. The bed was reasonably firm and we got a good nights sleep. Nice view from balcony. Short walk to beach. We will be staying here again. Hot Rod weekend was added bonus. Lot's of cool old cars running up and down the Ave and we had a perfect view from the front patio.

Room Tip: The higher up, the better the view. I wouldn't recommend the first floor....no view.

Waikiki's location is perfect, the very pleasant sundeck and the rooms have a lovely, unobstructed ocean view, walk right onto the beach, but you're still close enough to the WW boardwalk to walk up there as desired. The room was spacious, and bathroom and kitchenette were recently updated and nice. Staff is friendly and the pool area is pleasant, if noisy from time to time. Unfortunately, the housekeeping wasn't great - there were food bits and used tissue on the bedroom floor when we checked in, housekeeping left an empty cup on the floor (i.e., not OUR empty cup, hers) after cleaning, and at one point, AFTER cleaning our room, housekeeping knocked and then walked right in saying someone complained about a funny smell. There was indeed a funny smell...but we hadn't complained about it. The back bedroom needs a refresh and the beds were super mushy, plus it gets very stuffy back there overnight because the single window air conditioner is in the front room. Tiny, thin towels in the bathroom, but that seems to be standard for these shore motels, I suppose they want to make sure you're not tempted to use them as beach towels. Morning coffee can be had for a buck from the friendly folks at the rooftop coffeeshop, which is handy.

We spent WEEKS trying to find a hotel that fit our needs as a blended family (a 16 yr old boy & 5yr old girl). Want to personally thank Nancy who worked nonstop to make sure we had a great time. She was wonderful and saved our entire vacation!

PROS: Room 503.. great view of pool, ocean. Nice sized room for family w/ a small kitchen; sink, fridge, stove, microwave, coffee maker, table, ect. Great for saving $$! Pool cleaned every day, staff cleaned the grounds & rooms all weekend.

Cons: Woman at front desk Friday 8/30- 3:30 pm - extremely rude, swore ("Jesus") when we handed her cash because she had trouble counting it- in front of kids. We asked for a cot/ bed and she rudely replied with "you have 2 queen beds and 4 people what do you possibly need a cot for?".. she mentioned that the cot was TOO big, the room too small and that "they wouldn't do it". Again, we have a teen boy (16) and 5 yr old girl.. who are not related. AWKWARD!- cannot sleep them together-

-We waited ONE HOUR, went back down- different woman (bless you!!!) and she GLADLY called and gave us a cot, which fit PERFECTLY into the large room. You saved us! The woman on the desk at 3pm should be removed. Rude Rude & all she needed to do was call someone.

Room Tip: I would go for a room on the 5th or 6th floors.. overlooks the area, the pool, the ocean.. very nice...

This is a great place for families with young children. All of the rooms face the pool and with all of the kids in the pool it is very noisy. The place needs a little tlc, but the staff is very nice. (except for the one in the office) The rooftop restaurant is nice, nothing fancy, but the walk to the beach is about 1/4 of a mile now in Wildwood Crest. The jetties have added quite a bit of beach. You certainly would not want to waste money on a ocean view room.

We decided to stay at the Waikiki with our two grandsons this year and they had a ball. The boys enjoyed the pool and we were able to watch them as well as the ocean. Our room was clean, staff very freindly and helpful. We had an chance to eat breakfast at the rooftop restaurant and the food was good and priced right. We decided to to extend our stay, they were booked, but made accommodations for us for one more night. Parking tight when coming in late at night. No clocks in rooms. Not complaining, we will be back next year.

We've visited Wildwood Crest for many years and this was our first stay at the Waikiki. What a wonderful four day vacation!
Our room was on the 5th floor and had a spectacular view of the ocean. It was very clean (recently updated), had a nice size kitchen, with a refrigerator, microwave, toaster, and plenty of dinnerware if you intend to do your own cooking. The bathroom was a little tight but very clean and also recently updated. The air conditioning unit worked well despite the rooms' southern exposure. The pool was very nice and directly below us. Frankly I don't understand why people would come to the beach and spend their time at the pool.
Every morning we went for a long walk on the beach and by the time we returned, our maid "Sandra" had our room made up. The service here is excellent.
There are two common areas on the spacious 2nd level deck where guests can tan lying on the lavish lounge chairs, barbecue on two grills, and sit at several tables eating their meal.
The hotel is directly across the street from the entrance to the beach - very convenient if you're carrying a lot of beach gear. The beach is very wide so be prepared for a little hike to be near the water. There is also free hotel parking but the spaces are a little tight. However that's common at all the area hotels.
We are definitely returning next year.

I went on vacation with My wife, two little girls and I. We booked 4 days (Thurs. to Sun.) at The Waikiki Ocenanfront Inn in June (was recommended by my brother who stayed there at the beginning of the summer). We decided to come a day earlier on Wed so we called that Monday and got a room with no problem. We got there at around 4pm and we were checked in by one of the staff (nice enough). The rooms seemed nice, new kitchen areas and bathsrooms. The first room wasn't as clean as the second and both rooms could have used some paint in some areas, but over all the rooms were good. The Motel was in OK shape some areas need work some cracking here and there. The staff was very pleasant, parking was no problem always seemed to find a spot. The pool and lounge area (Cabanas Included) were well taken care of by the staff, would have liked if the lounge area were cleaned more often but that's just nitpicking and the grills seemed like new.The pool is great, I seen the staff cleaning it every morning, and as far as the restaurant on the 6th floor we never sat to eat there just coffee and things to go,but the staff was very friendly. The best part of The Waikiki Ocenanfront Inn for me was the access and veiw of the beach.Very convenient to be right across the street and the entrance to the beach is right by the parking lot so getting the beach stuff in and out of the car was a breeze especially with two kids running around.Overall this was a pleasant stay and would go back and would recommend it to friends and family
