“Good hotel at a good price”
Reviewed July 9, 2011

We usually stay in Cape May but decided to try Wildwood this year because our budget was tighter. We had their mid-week vacation package which was quite reasonable, esp. for July 4th week and included breakfast for 3 days. Great beach access and the pool was nice. The room was basic, but spacious, clean and comfortable and we had a great view of the ocean from our balcony. We liked the interior corridors which made it quieter outside the room. AC worked fine and the room didn't smell at all. Only had a few minor issues w/no clock or tissues in the room, flimsy toilet paper, fluctuating water pressure in the shower (no temperature fluctuation tho) and occasional long waits for the elevator. Parking was sufficient and the staff was friendly and helpful. If we do Wildwood again, we'll probably go back to the Bal Harbour.

Room Tip: Called to book the vacation packagehotel

Dirty, old, noisy, terrible service, literally the worst "vacation" of my life. There is a reason they insist on cash up front...

We have been going to the Bal harbour for 15 years and most of the rooms need to be updated particularly the Dolphin Building. The staff is extremely nice and helpful as always, but we definitely had some issues this year. The rugs were absolutely smelly and dirty. I had to wear shoes the whole time because as soon as I got out of the shower my feet were dirty. We had to call the front desk to ask them to have the staff CLEAN the room better as when we got there in the room there were M&M's on the floor and how could that be if they vacuumed. The AC worked the first night and then the second night it didn't work that great. Not sure why? We did NOT keep the sliders open so that was NOT the problem. We had to call to let them know that there was a musty smell coming out of the vents and that the carpets were so musty that I needed some sort of spray to get through another day. I am really really disappointed because we always go to the Bal Harbour and for the prices they charge they REALLY need to change the carpets even to flooring and put throw rugs like some of the other places are starting to do. That would be MUCH better and more clean. Also we found it ridiculous that in this day and age they don't offer free WIFI. I don't know if we will be going back unless they upgrade their rooms. It is a shame because the atmosphere is really really nice and the people at the front desk are really nice too.

Hello. The Bal Harbour upgrades it's units in the off season as needed. This customer stayed at the hotel over beach blast weekend. We are sorry that this customer was unhappy with their stay. The hotel does not offer free wifi so no complaint should be lodged regarding internet. The Bal Harbour offers daily housekeeping service and not personal housekeeping service. Many times the front desk was callled to this room by the customer for very minor issues. We took care of the matter even asking the guest not to play soccer in the hallways and in their room. AC works well when the thermostat isnt dislodged by an attempt to play world cup soccer in the room and kicking it in with the ball. Oh that musty smell was the guest's leaky beer cooler left near the door. Our staff recleaned the rug twice because of this.

We have stayed here before and each time we were delighted with the entire experience. This time is the first time that I read a few reviews before my vacation. I was shocked at some of the poor reviews that people gave this hotel. we've stayed in a few hotels around the world: Sofitel in Paris, Sheraton in Rio, Casa del Campo in RD, and many others. We were as comfortable in the Bal Harbour as these big name luxury hotels. We've stayed in a few other hotels in Wildwood, NJ. Some smell bad, some are dirty, in some the service is poor, and some of the employees are rude to the guests. In Bal Harbour the rooms are accommodating, clean, and smell clean. The employees are courteous and go out of their way to be helpful.
No, there is no gym, beauty shop, or great room, but that's not what you go to the NJ beach for. The Bal Harbour offers its guests use of the facilities, including parking garage, swimming pool, changing room, restaurant wrist band showing you are a guest until your room becomes available. And if you choose to use the facilties after check out time Bal Harbour offers you the opportunity to continue to use the facilities after check out. They pleasantly tend to you needs in a timely manner like extra pillows, towels, and evengive their guests fresh home grown Jersey cucumbers when they look hungry.

Room Tip: ocean front room on lower floor avoid elevator

I've been to the Bal Harbour many years ago, was very satisfied, so I decided to book a family weekend in July. Unfortunately, we had a family emergency and had to cancel. The staff was very understanding and accomodating. We will Definitely rebook with them as soon as we can!

I wasn't to happy about the whole switching rooms thing and apparently I wasnt the only one who got stuck switching rooms this weekend. The rooms had a weird Musty smell to them, the air conditioning barely worked and when we switched rooms their was no ac vents in the bedroom so we had pretty much no ac:( Not too happy, especially being out in the sun all day. Then the pool is only open till 6 pm everynight, whats the deal with that? I will definetly not recommend this hotel and I will definetly be staying elsewhere next year.

This wanted to stay and extra night. The room that he wanted to stay in was previously booked so in order to stay the extra night he had to move rooms. He was informed of this prior to doing so (moving rooms). The reviewer agreed to this. AC works, again please keep the balcony slider closed and the ac won't literally go out the window. Pool hours are open extended hours when demand is high.Musty rooms..Not here. Our rooms are n great shape.
