The big selling point here is location, location, location. Located right on the boardwalk over Sam's Pizza, the views (if your room is facing the right direction) of the ocean and boardwalk are great. The other huge plus, from my perspective, is that even though it was senior week and the crowds of teens on the streets, hanging from the balconies of cheaper, more lenient establishments, and moving in packs on the boardwalk would at times give NOLA a run for the money, the hotel and even the area around it was untouched. I thought it was based on who they would rent to, my husband thought it was that it was more expensive than other places.
We were staying with a large group that rented the suite and we rented a standard room. Everything was clean enough, although the decor as nondescript as possible. As for toiletries, there was only cheap, gritty soap. No shampoo, lotion, etc. The bed was ok but I was told that the mattresses on the sleeper sofas in the suite were horrible with kids opting to sleep on the floor instead of what amounted to metal coils.
The pool on the fourth floor roof offers a good view of the beach and boardwalk as well. It tended to be on the cold side and the hot tub was only marginally hotter. It closed at 6 pm and whenever the manager was not on the premises! Take note and don't count on using the pool. On the plus side, there is a bathroom located right next to the pool and an outdoor shower.
