I am surprised by the positive reviews. The Chipotle taste so much better and fresher for 1/3 the price. Nice drinks and view. But that's it. Food is very average but to be completely fair my girlfriend likes to come here.

We decided to drive to the nearby Charrito’s Restaurant in Weehawken. Long ago we gave up on anything Hoboken, with its expensive parking hassles and over-zealous wheel-clamp entrepreneurs. On this Wednesday evening we found plenty of spaces available on the street nearby. There is also a small lot at Charrito’s where a valet asks a $4 fee.

Charrito’s has a location overlooking the Manhattan skyline that can only be described as world-class, even to those of us who see it every day. This property has changed occupants many times over the years – the last time we were here it was a sushi bar.

Inside, the restaurant is smartly decorated with authentic Mexican artifacts. On arrival, we were the only ones in the restaurant or in the bar, so when asked if we had a reservation, we quietly chuckled. A few other customers joined us later, and our server said that there are lots more on the weekends and a fun atmosphere prevails.

We were warmly greeted and overall, service was outstanding throughout our visit. We were offered drinks and a dinner menu and told that the house specialty is guacamole prepared table-side in a Mexican lava rock molcajete, a kind of over-sized mortar and pestle. There was one on our table and lots more on a buffet ready for action. Our server said that 90% of customers choose to try the guacamole and it’s delicious. I’m sure it is, and we felt terrible when we passed it up.

We ordered drinks. There is an assortment of Mexican bottled beer available, but no draft. Mojitos, margaritas and sangria are featured at reasonable prices. The red sangria was unremarkable - they should do better on that.

We were pleased with our entrees. The best was the Arrachera, a generous portion of thinly sliced angus steak topped with melted Oaxaqueño cheese and served with a nopales salad, rice and refried beans. This dish, and most of the others on the menu, was unique and not widely available elsewhere. Everything on our plate, including the sides, was fresh and memorable for the range of taste experiences. Imagination and creativity that went into the preparation of our dinner. Great job, Charrito’s!

Charrito's is nearby - walking distance so don't have to worry about the parking. I particularly don't like spicy food so i like Charrito's. The fajitas always smell delicious...even if you are just walking by. Try the guacamole made at table side. The view is spectacular and they offer outdoor seating.

This adorable restaurant has all the right stuff!!! Friendly service, fantastic Mexican cuisine, and a view of the Hudson and New York City to die for. Owned by the Arias family this place used to be called the "Silver Fox" many years ago. They totally changed the interior (see pics) and have a wonderful Mexican menu. Try the "Queso Fundido" as an appetizer made with multiple cheeses and sausage with "make your own" tortillas. We had the Enchiladas Ranchera's and the Rico Burritos both moderately priced and exceptionally tasty. The service by Victoria (non-Mexican) was very friendly and attentive. The only negative was their Red Sangria (bad news) however the White Sangria was delicious. Parking is sometimes a problem as their parking lot can only accommodate about 6 cars but there is ample parking on the street behind the restaurant. Their coffee was great as was the Tres Leches (3 milks) sponge cake.

Bring your camera and sit in there terrace area for the best views of NYC
