Made a solo trip to the Taphouse Grille and took a seat (1 of 14) at the bar. A very friendly bartender gave me a beer menu to peruse. Like any good one it provided taste notes and ABV figures and was nicely broken down by style: Lagers, Belgian Style & Wheat, Pale Ales, Golden, Fruit & Dark Ales and Porters and Stouts. The menu listed 23 drafts in all, but didn't include bottles. The drafts were all crafts; the bottles appeared to be macros.
Being in New Jersey I opted for the not-quite-local Head High IPA from Kane Brewing. One off-putting bit of presentation: I had to drink this tasty beer out of a Coor's Light glass. To my great relief the next beer, a Carton of Milk stout from Carton Brewing arrived in a Dogfish Head glass.
I visited on a Tuesday, which is a special night for burgers. $15 for a burger and a pint. The Taphouse Grille makes a damn good burger. Mine was perfectly seasoned and cooked. A generous portion of hand cut fries rounded out the plate.
I can't say I was too wowed by the decor in the bar. Brick walls, not particularly well-lit. The dark space felt more dingy than cozy. The place was clean. Plenty (5) of flat screens offered a variety of sports.
