My pet peeve with the seaport is its location and access. For some reason the only people that seem to go to the seaport have an impossible time turning into the driveway and cause regular traffic jams. Just very annoying!

I stopped in there earlier this summer. It felt like there were so many things going on all at once, and all of them seemed rather sloppy, and half way finished. For the price I paid I would have rather seen less exhibits but of a higher quality than the ADD mess that was presented. The entire time i was there some bearded man who seemed to know alot about history who kept interupting me. I couldnt figure out if he worked there or was just a local. If he works there tell him to clean out his beard.

Tuckerton Seaport has been on our possible day trips list for a couple of years now. When I saw that Tuckerton Seaport was having a Seafood Festival in June, we decided to make the trip.

I definitely feel that the seafood festival added another dimension to our visit. Volunteers were cooking and selling crab cakes, steamed clams, grilled shrimp, grilled scallops (to DIE FOR!!!) and more to benefit the seaport. There were also commercial food vendors at the site, but we wanted the seafood, and we also felt we were helping the seaport by purchasing our food and beverages from them.

With the festival, there were various tables with vendors from kitchen countertops to Pennsylvania Dutch baked goods and more, again more to do than just the historical aspect.

For families, the day we went, there we a lot of cute activities for children, plus a play area that many of the children seemed to be enjoying.

One of the top aspects of Tuckerton Seaport would have to be its enthusiastic and knowledgeable volunteer staff members. We learned about the sneakboxes unique to the area and also about the wood duck decoys. The lighthouse and Surf Museum were a lot of fun, too.

Their website makes mention of a 1/4 nature trail where one can Identify birds and plants. At the end of June when we visited, this trail had some interesting trees, but it was quite overgrown and needed work.

We definitely enjoyed our time at Tuckerton Seaport and would recommend it to both families and adults without children.

Each time we go to the Seaport, we discover so many new things have been added! If you love the Jersey Shore and learning about it, visit the Tuckerton Seaport. Our grandchildren find it fun, but they are learning so many things and experiencing nature at its best! Everything is top shelf; especially, the volunteers who share a weath of their knowledge because most have actually lived it! Where else can you watch boats being made, ducks being carved, basket weaving, clamming, discover its rich history, listen to great music and of course, eat awesome food! Sometimes we forget places to visit that are right in "our own backyards!" And...becoming a yearly member not only helps the Seaport, but gives you free admission. Take advantage of a place where you can just take a stroll with a friend! It's an awesome place to bring your children and grandchildren so that you can all share in experiencing Tuckerton Seaport's rich culture, as well as gaining an insight into so many traditions!!! Fun and Knowledge: Perfect Together!
