I had promised to take my daughter and her two friends (15yr olds) to Seaside heights for a couple of days. I didn't want to stay in seaside so I settled on this Holiday Inn in Toms River.
I didn't know what to expect, I thought it would have a run down feel to it. As I drove up to the front door I was amazed at how clean and modern it looked. We were greeted a big smile by Jennifer, a loud ( in a very good and confidant way) powerful person, with deep rich red hair. and a strong presence. Her single focus was to get us checked in and make us happy.
We had adjoining rooms, so I felt safe that my daughter and her friends were a stones throw a way from me. The room was very cookie cutter and basic and was exactly what I expected and wanted. The room was very clean, well maintained and had a great huge flat screen TV. All I was looking for was to have a room that was clean, safe, and functional. It met all my needs.
The next morning as I was walking to breakfast, I was greeted with a loud booming hello from Jennifer greeting me good morning. This recognition put me in a great mood, and something I haven't experience from a front desk service person in a very long time.
I went to the buffet breakfast which I was a bit disappointed with. The eggs were rubbery and cold. Most of the food was uninspiring. Also it was the same buffet the next morning. I was hoping for maybe a special dish of the day, like pancakes, or French toast etc, etc. The fruit was very fresh and tasty. I think they should put just a little more effort into the buffet.
Because the weather was terrible my daughter and her friends stayed at the hotels pool and loved it. They have a great sauna and keep the area very clean.
Over all, I'd say that if you are looking for a solid comfortable hotel that will meet all your basic needs, then this Holiday Inn will be a very welcome surprise.
