My family has visited Cattus Island often. The visitors' center always has something to excite interest--either in the garden outside or the critters and displays inside. The trails are well marked and great for strolling. The terrain is varied--you'll walk through high rushes on raise board walks, past some open marsh, through some open forest, and out to the bay beach. Dogs (on leashes, of course) are allowed. Do be careful, though, to check yourself over for ticks after your visit, as Ocean County is a lyme disease hot-spot. The park also offers many interesting programs--call ahead to see if you can participate in seining the bay or some nature center activity. Plenty of parking with a small playground and picnicking available. Flush toilets in the nature center.
