Jimmy and his staff did a fabulous job for our daughter's wedding. The bride and groom and our guests are still raving about the delicious food, the outstanding service, and the comfortable rooms. Many stayed overnight and enjoyed all of the things to do in the area.

Called to stay for a family function for which a group rate had been negotiated. Front Desk staff gave us a higher rate and we had to call back and argue to get the correct rate. We were not the only ones this happened to. They also forgot to mention parking charge - in the suburbs!!! My brother asked about upgrading to a suite and was assured it was an extra $50. He booked it but was charged an extra $80 for 2 nights, plus all the taxes, that was a nice shock!!! The hostess of the family function called to complain, she was passed around from reservations to catering, then told she could call billing and try to get them to do something about it herself! Nice huh?? This is a family owned hotel and they are taking advantage of the fact that they are the only hotel in town. Be very careful about getting written confirmation, don't trust anything said to you on the phone, and if there is a problem, Good Luck finding anyone who cares!

My husband and I had our wedding reception at The Grand Summit Hotel in Summit, NJ and they did a fabulous job! Every detail was covered and we were consistently treated with great customer service. I would highly recommend this venue for an event. It’s hard to say all the great things about this Hotel so here is a list of what we loved most:
1. Teresa and Jimmy in catering were wonderful to work with and always made us feel taken care of. They were helpful with every step of getting to our wedding day!
2. The Summit Hotel only holds one event at a time. Therefore, the staff is dedicated to you; you don’t have to share the beautiful space with anyone but your family and/or friends.
3. Customer service of all staff was impeccable.
4. The food quality was great and the selection of menu items is extensive and compliments many personal tastes and cuisines.
5. Our wedding cake, included in the wedding package, was so delicious that our guests still make mention of it! We got to chose from different cake shapes, fillings and icings.
6. The Viennese dessert that also was included in the menu package was not only the most beautiful spread, all items were freshly baked or made, fruit was fresh and delicious and the choices were also extensive.
7. The hotel rooms were clean, accommodating, and cozy.
8. The location of the Hotel in Summit offers access to a great downtown area for shopping, direct train into New York, and many other wonderful amenities.
Overall, every detail we needed or wanted was taken care of by all Hotel staff. I would recommend this venue to anyone and hope that you chose The Grand Summit Hotel for your next event.

Stayed at Grand Summit for a week on business.

Check in was quick, and the receptionist came to me in the restaurant when my room was ready. Lobby, restaurant, entrance all smart.

However, that is where it ended. The hotel, from lift to hallways to bedrooms, needs redecorating and refurbishing. There is a difference between "traditional" and "shabby". The room was a good size however but no noise proofing from the corridors.

I complained three times that my sheets were frayed and had holes in them. First time, no action. Second time, they were trying to find someone in housekeeping and couldn't! In their own hotel. Complained third time when noone turned up to fix it after two hours of waiting. Why is housekeeping making up the beds with sheets in that condition? Will the hotel not invest in bedlinen?

Next day, the sheets were better, no holes but still frayed. The bathroom wasn't clean when i arrived - hair in the bath and soap residue in the soap dish which remained there for the length of my stay. There was bottles of water put in my room - I don''t know if this was a mistake or part of compensation for the bedlinen debacle.

Food and room service very good, if slightly over priced. Limited TV options. Slow internet connection.

Hotel is not worth the money - if it was less expensive, you could expect the above.

My 89 year old mother and I stayed at the Grand Summit in early October. The staff and service are outstanding; both are exemplified by people who go above and beyond what is required. We were given assistance regarding places to eat, and when the brand new hotel driver wasn't certain about the location of the restaurant, the Asst. General Manager (Michael Marino) drove us there himself...even opening the door to the restaurant for us. The service will make you feel that you are the Grand Summit's only guest.

Our first room had some electrical problems in the bathroom, and was a bit on the small side. We called the desk to ask if there was another room available; yes, there was, they were sorry for the inconvenience, and would be happy to move our luggage for us. The second room was perfect--larger, quiet, and everything worked beautifully.

The location was exactly what we needed. It was close to amazing shopping with a small-town ambience. People were friendly and helpful. The area is safe, clean, and has a neighborhood feel.

The Grill, located downstairs, had outstanding fare. We had the Sunday brunch (included in room rate) and it was wonderful. (Note: Breakfast is included every day.) The dinners were creative and cooked to perfection, served by skilled staff. We could not have asked for a better experience.

We look forward to another visit to this historical gem of a hotel.

The Grand Summit Hotel (GSH) was an amazing place! I recently had my wedding there and it was an AMAZING experience. Jimmy (our Maitre d'), Teresa his assistant and all of the staff were courteous, helpful and willing to meet our every need at every moment. The venue and overall presentation was fantastic and it exceeded all of our expectations! The hotel room; was classic, very comfortable beds, nice climate control, excellent BOSE stereo systems with flat screen TV’s and the service even included shuttle service to and from Newark Airport. The staff even handled a "minor" wardrobe emergency and transported a guest to a local shopping mall in a very speedy and efficient manner. The event itself was outstanding. Jimmy catered to our every need, organized everything in a very efficient manner and ensured that my bride and I had nothing to concern ourselves with. He was personally involved in every moment of the evening. The food was out of this world! Everyone raved about it all night and the Chateaubriand melted in your mouth, it was so succulent and delicious! The complimentary breakfast was tasty and plentiful. This is a place that we will return to and I highly recommend it!
