We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights. before going, we double checked reviews and ratings to ensure we would have a good experince, but to out disappointment, we were very unhappy with the hotel. Most of the staff was not very attentive or friendly, the room was seriously outdated including old fixtures, old wallpaper, and old furniture. There was no bar/refridgerator, or safe in the room. We also had to pay almost $10 a night for parking daily incduing the weekend. We found this charge outlandish, as Summit, NJ is a residential area with free parking all over. The positive- there was good room service and the delivery person was friendly. Overall, we were expecitng a 4 star experience and got 2 and a 1/2 star service and accomodations. This hotel is not worth the money they are charging.

I visited Summit, NJ for the first time and the Grand Summit Hotel was an excellent venue for the business conference.
The interiors were well-kept and the US winters can be very severe, hence comfort at a good price was important to me.

My inlaws are in Summit and they get us a room at the only hotel in town. We have two small children and we always get a small room when we stay there for some reason. Also since we have small children we have a lot of front desk calls and sometimes they get us what we ask for and sometimes we have to keep calling. They recently redid the bathrooms, so they are nice. They also added flatscreen TV but I am not sure they get HD service so I'm not sure what good it gets you.

A lovely old hotel with a lot of charm. Inviting lobby (I actually sat down in front of a roaring fire, and ate roasted chestnuts) and the room was very nice with poster bed. Not the place to stay if you want a large bathroom. Hunt Club Grill for lunch had very good bread and good french onion soup but ambience was kind of dated. I would stay here again--it is a cozy place and a nice antidote to chain hotels. One turn-off--overall the service (front desk, lunch server) is not impressive.

We just had our daughter's wedding at the Grand Summit Hotel on October 19, 2008. From start to finish, this was a perfect wedding. Everything went very smoothly. Teresa was amazing and made this a top-notch affair. The setting, the ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception were all great. Everyone raved about the food. Our vendors had nothing but the highest praise for the staff and the ambiance.

The hotel rooms were all very nice and very clean. I did not hear one negative from any of our guests. We all enjoyed the fabulous breakfast each morning. I would highly recommend the Grand Summit Hotel for any event.

We stayed at the Grand Summit for three nights this past weekend as we were attending a wedding in the hotel. Upon arrival, the check-in staff did not even look up, let alone greet us. Two gift bags had been left at the front desk for us, but they were not given to us until we were informed of them by the gracious givers and we demanded them. We were told the same was true for many of the wedding guests.

On to the room: We were on the 2nd floor directly above the reception room. I was aware that the hotel puts wedding guests there as the noise from the reception room is atrocious and they assume we'll be at the wedding so it won't matter. However, we were staying on after the wedding and were unfortunately woken up by the blaring techno music of a bat mitzvah the following morning. I can't even begin to describe the noise. The entire room vibrated.

On Sunday morning, we also literally jumped out of our bed when a large alarm type noise went off in our room. We think it may have been the pipes. Besides the noise, there was nothing impressive about the room. It was small and outdated. To add insult to injury, in the room, they had a book advertising hotels in their hotel group, the picture of the room in the advertisement for the Grand Summit looked absolutely nothing like our room. There should have been a disclaimer. It was completely misleading.

Finally, the bartender in the Hunt Club was completely miserable. He begrudgingly got drinks for us despite the fact that we visited the place a couple of times during our stay. It could have been a charming spot, but his mood ruined the atmosphere.

I love Summit, but I will be staying at the Short Hills Hilton next time I visit there.

My husband and I returned to The Grand Summit Hotel to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with our children and grandchildren Oct. 9-13, 2008. We had our wedding reception at the hotel in 1958 and decided to celebrate our 50th in the same location as our wedding. When we made our reservations several months earlier, Mr. Ernst Gaston assured us he would do everything to make our family and friends enjoy our stay. He was so right! John, the shuttle bus operator made sure all our family and guests were picked up at the airport and departed from the hotel in a very timely manner. We all stayed 4-5 days at the hotel and our rooms were very comfortable. We all enjoyed the warm and friendly atmosphere of the hotel.

We held our anniversary dinner in The Hunt Club on Sat. night, Oct. 11, 50 yrs. to the day we held our wedding reception at the Hotel. Mr. Walter Curtis, Manager of The Hunt Club, had communicated with us via phone and e-mail many months before our event and was very very helpful in selecting the menu, sitting arrangements, etc. He always answered our calls and messages prompty. Mr. Curtis, his assistant, Mr. Wayne Birner, and all the waitstaff at The Hunt Club were responsible for making our event an evening we will never forget. Many of our guests have called and told us how impressed they were with the excellent food and service at The Hunt Club.

We would give the Grand Summit Hotel and The Hunt Club much more than a 5-star rating. We can't thank them enough for the wonderful time our family and friends enjoyed at this beautiful hotel and restaurant.
