“Best restaurant hands-down on the island!!!”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

My husband and I went to this beautiful new outdoor restaurant for a night out without the kids. The atmosphere is GORGEOUS...right on the bay. Lots of over-sized umbrellas to block the sun and gulls and beautiful sofas to sit on and enjoy your drinks and the view. The food was absolutely delicious. I had a grilled mahi with jersey corn and edamame succatash and my husband had a spicy tuna steak. The watermelon-feta salad appetizer was refreshing on a hot night and the shrimp cocktail with horseradish and lemon-verbena ketchup was also wonderful. Yes, it's very pricey but most of the upscale restaurants on the island are and this one actually deserves the hefty price tag. Great view, great bar, great food. What more could we want from a vacation spot?

You can enjoy a $17.00 cocktail at the new bar. We were shocked when the four of us sat down to have a drink and the bill was $80.00 with tip for four drinks. The facility is beautiful, they have way to many staff, 4 to 5 18 year olds for valet parking that are all standing around and then four girls standing at the receptions area only one acknowledged us the others were busy chatting.i hope they make it it's a beautiful facility but the prices are out of sight!

Better than your Xpectation! An escape SPOT, in South Jersey, tucked beautifully in town, as a downtown, yet on the water, with sunrises and your special sunsets, central for all business gathering, or for your weekly dinning out, where all will meet: weddings, functions, social affairs and more. . . Suites or Rooms, as you would design them, comforts, of quiet, with space, luxury appointments, polished wood floors plus, oh the linens! All your accommodations met, plus a wonderful Service oriented Staff of Personalities, anxious to serve! So be forewarned, very, very, we'll done in Stone Harbor, The Reeds, at Shelter Haven 08247.

Room Tip: Suites, rooms, each was very quiet; also note, each room is a different adventure!

My team held their two day Mid-Year Review Meeting at the Reeds at the end of June. We were the first company to host a meeting at the Reeds and we were all very pleased considering this was their first go at hosting a meeting of this magnitude. Our first day/night at the Reeds we were all pleased with the staff and how they accommodated all of the needs we had. We rented out the suite on the third floor to host a team cocktail/dinner party which held 17 of us comfortably. We had a personal bartender and chief inside the suite, who prepared 17 delish meals followed by dessert. We had are meetings on the first floor in a private room right off of the main ballroom. We had a beautiful breakfast spread each morning; the meeting room had pads, pens, audio visual, and lots of wonderful lighting. Everything ran smoothly with just some minor bumps. The outside dinning and bar was also a nice treat after long morning meetings. Staff was always helpful and friendly. They always greeted us by name, held doors, shuttled us to the beach, (2blocks down) and always had professional mannerism. We would defiantly return to the Reeds both for business and pleasure. If you haven’t been there, I would suggest at least taking a stroll around the Reeds if you are in town.

Room Tip: The bayside rooms are beautiful!

Tourist beware!....you are going to LOVE the Reeds!
My husband and I had the opportunity to stay over night recently at the Reeds. The room was wonderfully appointed - with thought to every detail. The linens, including all bedding were lux! The bathroom was a great size...not a compact little powder room size. We never felt crowded. The check-in process was so "inviting". No standing at a high top counter! It was just a few moments from when we walked thru the door (we self-parked) until we were donning our bathing suites to head to the beach (3 blocks away...and they have courtesy shuttles!). At the Reeds you are right in the heart of the town...no need to use your car - everything you could want is within walking distance. This may sound dumb, but IF I had one "complaint" it would be that the beds are very close to the windows; or that the windows are too low. It was not until we were returning to the REEDS after shopping in the lovely town center that I realized how you can see right into the rooms! You can see what people are watching on tv...see who is in what room. I know...close the curtains...but with wonderful views of either the town center or the beautiful Shelter Haven basin...who would want to do THAT?... Just be warned to close your drapes after dark!! Otherwise, it is a wonderful get away for a couple; our children are adults, so we cannot comment on the accomodations for children. They do have a restaurant and several bars. I would definitely return to the REEDS again!!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the basin will give you spectacular sunset view from your room!

We wanted to love this hotel because it really is so beautiful, but it is just not suited for families with small children. It's trying to be too many things, to too many people. Posh dinner spot, see and be seen bar, and family vacation destination. However, it's physically too small a property to be all of those things, in my opinion. We wanted to avoid getting a beach house and having the extra work associated with it, but a house would probably have been better. The service was only average, as it is a new hotel, and like the rest of the shore, was staffed by 18 year olds. No room service, and maid service was not that great. Pool is more for sitting than swimming, it's very small. And the location is smack in the middle of town, which means it's a good 10-12 blocks from the beach. Add to all of that the fact it is expensive and we would probably not visit again. I would rather have the washer/dryer, proximity to the beach, and added space a shore house provides, particularly since there were not many services anyway.

The hotel is beautiful; the rooms are wonderful; the suites are spectacular!
The indoor restaurant--great food and the staff and service---getting better and better. There were a few glitches opening weekend (as there are in any new place) but I have eaten more than once at both the inside and outside dining areas---the food is delicious and the service---better and better.
The sunsets are spectacular; I have never seen anything so beautiful anywhere! Go for the sunset---relax, get a drink, have something to eat and I guarantee that you will return!
