Description: Established in 1710, this is the inn that was immortalized by Richard Rodgers in the song "There's a small hotel with a wishing well" sung in the Broadway play On Your Toes. The inn was first built as a private residence and is believed to have been converted in 1832. Come and explore the over 300 year old Stockton Inn, nestled in the quaint borough of Stockton, New Jersey. Romantic dining is served in the exquisite mural rooms with fireside seating during the colder months. In the warmest months of the year, savor your meal and your surroundings while dining on the patio alongside two waterfalls and beautifully integrated gardens.

“Romantic dinner for two”
Reviewed March 2, 2013

On a recent Thursday we thoroughly enjoyed a romantic for two at this lovely historic restaurant. We were seated near one of several fireplaces and found the ambience to be cozy, warm and romantic. The food was spectacular....creative, fresh, tasty -- we had lobster and crab bisque, salad, filet and meat pie with vegetables. Everything was cooked to perfection. The atmosphere was relaxing and the service was just what you'd expect in a fine restaurant. 5 stars to Stockton Inn! Can't wait to return in the summer and enjoy the outdoor dining area with water feature. This is my new favorite place in our area for upscale dining.

“Bring back Fred...”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

I've largely stopped going to the Stockton Inn. 10 pm last call? No more open mic nights? Come on...new ownership has made it clear that the locals and regulars who built this business are no longer welcome.

“Two Great Visits”
Reviewed February 3, 2013 via mobile

Had a great experience last week. Held off writing until now. Brought a friend with us this time and he also raved.

The Crab Bisque was amazing both last week and this week; it was loaded with crab meat and had a delicate brandy taste. The Kumamoto oysters were fresh and delicious. My husband loved the French Onion Soup and he is very serious about French Onion Soup.

Our server in the bar, Liz, was fun and upbeat. She remembered us from last week.

In short, we were very happy and will def return. My smoked salmon rocked!!

“Historically variable food”
Reviewed February 1, 2013

I recently had the opportunity to have both lunch and dinner as part of my first visit to the Stockton Inn. The restaurant does look very historic, especially with all of the old murals on the walls. Lunch was mediocre and rather uninspired. Dinner was better but some dishes were great while others were very average. I can see how one's experience can be very variable based upon what you order. Try the salmon for dinner.

“A SECOND CHANCE”
Reviewed January 23, 2013

After a bad experience with the old owners, i thought it was time to give the new owners a shot. Had lunch there on a recent sunday. Food was very tasty, new menu had a nice variety of selections and the service was excellent. Worth a visit.
