We've been to the Black Forest Inn on multiple occasions, and it has always been nothing less than exceptional in all categories. The restaurant is decorated in an elegant Old World motif. The service is always top-notch, with experienced and knowledgable wait staff. Then there's the food ... decidedly the best German cuisine I've ever had. Make sure you try the potato leek soup, and even the bread they put on the table is scrumptious. I always have the sauerbraten, which is expertly done and served with barrel-aged red cabbage and delicious potato dumplings. My family has always enjoyed anything off the menu they've ever ordered, no one has ever been disappointed. And if you have room for dessert, they have many to choose from, but the Black Forest Cake or the apple streudel are always winners in my book.
Be advised that there is a dress code for this restaurant, so no shorts or T-shirts are allowed (collared shirts and jeans at the minimum, business casual is okay).
Drive time from Parsippany or Morristown is about 45 minutes, depending on traffic, but well worth the drive wherever you're coming from, you won't be disappointed.
