Couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more at this elegant yet very comfortable home. Our weekend included two nights at the Inn, specifically chosen because of its proximity to the Appalachian Trail and other outdoor activities. We warmly greeted by the owner, Roz, and shown around so we were aware of all the amenities offered by the B&B. Our room was clean, comfortable and private, and the jacuzzi bath was a wonderful plus. Each morning's breakfast was home made and delish! We definitely enjoyed ourselves and have put this B&B on our list of "must visit again."

We first visited the Whistling Swan Inn in August 2011, as an overnight guest following a corporate function at Lake Mohawk. From the moment we entered the Inn, we felt the tension melt away and had a difficult time leaving the room to go to the function! While the ownership has changed, the quality has not - Rosalind and Tom have added their own personal touches and we considering a revisit this fall during the peak color season - and hopefully for more than one night!
Thanks for sharing the recipe for the Apple Pecan pancakes on www.selectregistry.com - when Ros offers them, don't pass them up!!

Room Tip: If you like a jacuzzi, opt for one of the suites.

We stayed 3 nights in the Walnut Valley Suite. It was tucked into the corner of the second floor. So quiet, we never heard noise from the other guests. Our room had 2 bathrooms! His and hers plus a Jacuzzi tub which was located outside of the bathrooms within the suite itself. The suite had plenty of room for relaxing in the two comfy chairs. Roz, the new owner, was so pleasant. She visited with us but was not intrusive. She gave great recommendations for dinner. The Inn was nicely decorated in the Victorian style but without all the ruffles and doilies. Internet service was great and there were freshly made brownies and complimentary beverages always available. The Inn has a wraparound porch and we took advantage of it every morning by taking our breakfast out on the porch. There are little bistro tables that overlook the garden and water fountain. You can also eat inside and you have a choice of eating at a large dining table or sitting at small intimate tables. The breakfast was generous. Buffet style with a variety of fruit, cereal, breads and juices. Plus a choice of 2 hot entrees. I enjoyed excellent blueberry pancakes and the coffee was delicious. The town of Stanhope is really nothing much to look at. The street this Inn is on does not have a lot of visual appeal. However we chose this location because of the fantastic parks, hiking, restaurants and antiquing within close proximity.

Room Tip: Splurge on the suites. The Walnut Valley Room has a his and hers bathroom plus a jacuzzi tub and is...

We had a wonderful time! The house was beautiful and service was excellent! Rosalind, the innkeeper was a great hostess. We had some great conversation. Along with a delicious breakfast, she also offers coffee, tea, drinks, snacks and homemade chocolate chip cookies and brownies to her guests all day throughout your stay. I was very impressed! I've stayed in numerous b&b's but never was offered so many drinks and snacks at no charge. I would highly recommend this inn and hope to visit again.

We wanted to spend some quality time together, hiking, resting, exploring some historical sites in the New York/ New Jersey area.
As for our base, 'The Wistling Swan', we could not have made a better choice:
the innkeepers' hospitality, the rooms, the breakfast: just wonderful!

Do spend a couple of days at the Stanhope 'Whistling Swan Inn' and explore the gorgeous Skyland's region of New Jersey!

My girlfriend and I did a weekend evening together at the Whistling Swan over President's Weekend. I couldn't say enough pleasant things about this property. It sits discreetly in a small neighborhood where there isn't much to do. This is perfect, all we wanted to do was just enjoy some us time. The bed was huge and comfortable, the price was appropriate, the jetted tub was perfect, and the room was quaint. The breakfast was quick, unique, and delicious. We were greeted with a smile, and sent away with one, as well. Excellent Service!
