Description: Pastaio is the Italian word for "pasta maker" which reflects our Chef's experience working as Pastaio for restaurants in New York including Eataly, where she would turn out roughly 3,000 pounds weekly. We now bring fresh handmade pasta daily to the Jersey Shore incorporating the freshest seasonal ingredients to our menu that changes each week. At Pastaio we strive to support our local produce, fish and meat, purveyors on an organic and sustainable basis. Our Menu reflects our kitchen staff experience with classical french training and the bounty of the Garden State. We are proud to utilize Pat LaFrieda Meats of New York for our meat and poultry. Ask about having your next event in our Private Party Room which can accommodate up to 50. Gluten Free Meatballs and fresh Gluten Free Pasta Available.

“Most Delicious Pasta EVER”
Reviewed October 10, 2012

You have never experienced pasta like this in your life. It melts in your mouth. Everything we tasted was amazingly delicious. The meatballs, and you get 2, are as big as your fist. The waiter recommended some appetizers and we, 5 of us, shared 2 and they were super.

To start with, your waiter brings you bread, warm, with this incredible spread, then opens your bottle of wine, yes, it's a BYOB, which just adds to it's appeal, and you are just transported to another place when the food arrives. Yes, it is that good.

The dessert we shared was various delicious flavors of gelato and it was plenty given how much dinner we just ate.

The service was attentive and although we were warned that it's a little slow due to the fact that everything is made to order, we had no problem.

Do yourself a favor and give this place a try. You will not be disappointed!

“the worst experience ever”
Reviewed September 26, 2012

on a lovely fall day, chanced upon a restaurant with sidewalk dining, sat down, ws greeted in a minute or two, ordered a coke, glass of water and 2 pizza's. after 40 minutes, without a word from our server I askd when we could expect our order, he said in a few minutes. I have eaten pizza all over the metropolitan area, never waited 40 minutes for a pie. After another 10 minutes one pizza arriver with soggy crust under little sauce and some mozzarella and some basil, my pie would be in another few minutes. After waiting for the server for another 10 minutes I found him inside and said that we thought that this was inexcusable, we were the only customers in the restaurant or on the sidewalk. Possibly this was the reason, the server got very huffy,m started to clear my friends place after we showed him how undercooked the pizza was, he got very upset and even more huffy. Said he would not charge us in a very rude way and said as we were about to say something to him he said, good bye and don't come back. I am a reasonable woman retired owner of a service business, my friend is a retired owner of a service business so we both know how important it is to behave with decorum and never get huffy or nasty. He doesn't have to worry we won't be back.

“Upscale food in a relaxed NJ Shore environment.”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

Pastaio is a real gem serving delicious and creative meals made from the finest and freshest ingredients. The vibe in the restaurant is upscale casual with 1980's tunes playing in the background. As soon as we arrived, we received water, heard the specials, and our wine was opened. The crusty fresh bread arrived quickly and was served warm surrounded by melted blue cheese. It was a fabulous way to start our dinner. We order Burrata for appetizer and it was "out of this world." The portion was quite large and came with red pepper coulis, caper pesto, "melt in your mouth prosciutto," croustini, and sweet ripe figs. The Panzanella salad was made with juicy Jersey tomatoes and cucumbers. All the pastas are homemade. I ordered their signature meatballs with Pappardelle and they were amazing!!! My boyfriend had Gnocchi with a mushroom sauce drizzled with white truffle oil. The Gnocchi were "light as a feather" like "little pillows" nestled in a rich sauce. The portions were large and we could not finish our entrees. We shared a cherry clafoutis for dessert that was a sweet ending to a wonderful dining experience. BYOB

“Excellent customer service”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

We stopped in the restaurant at 4:00 which was between the lunch and dinner service. Normally they do not serve at that time, but the waiter asked the chef if they could accommodate us. They did and it was wonderful. The waiter was great with our granddaughter. It was fantastic that they served us even though they weren't "open" at the time we stopped in.

“Just plain poor”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

We were seated, given our reservations, pretty much on time. Over the next 45 minutes we finally got water and some wine. Most of the time the wait staff (seemingly mostly family to save money) had us on igmore. We wouldhjave left if we thought there was a viable alternative nearby. We stayed as the food was supposed to be great - it wasn't. Could best be described as overpriced ordinary. thought their vaunted meatballs might be the most overrated item on the menu. would definately try another dining venue.
