We stayed two nights at the Hewitt Wellington. Spring Lake is a beautiful town with a pristine beach and new boardwalk. Kathy is SO nice and helpful. We stayed in a large suite on the third floor. Even though we didn't have a lake view, the view was fine. The pull out couch could use updating but we didn't have any complaints from our kids. The continental breakfast offered is good if you are not a big breakfast eater. Whispers will do take out if you don't want to dine there.

Families with children are very welcome. It has a B & B feel without being a B & B.

We arrived by train but I would strongly suggest having a car. Taxis are very expensive and public transit is hard to come by. We rented a car in nearby Asbury Park and they picked us up from the hotel.

Thank you for your kind words about your stay. I'm so glad that you seem to have really had a nice couple of days. Hopefully you will be able to join us again soon. Keep in mind, we are open year round and Spring Lake is just as lovely in the winter as the summer.....perhaps just a little cooler.

Looking forward to seeing you again!

Parking setup is poor. Guests should identify their cars so that the space hogs (over the lines) can be called to remedy the situation. Breakfast is too scant for the price; also should be available at 7:am. Need new towels,

Thank you for writing about your stay. While it seems you enjoyed your stay overall, you also had some concerns and I appreciate you letting us know. The front desk informed me of your suggestion about parking and we will certainly try to monitor the situation better in the future. We are always trying to update our hotel to make it more enjoyable for our guests and welcome all thoughts and ideas.
Thank you again and we hope to see you again soon.

Stayed for one night for my girlfriends birthday and I must say, great room, huge tvs, nice bathroom.. And nice view of the beauty of spring lake. The breakfast selection in the morning was good and the pool was perfect. All in all it was a great experience. I didn't get to eat at whispers though, because I felt we weren't dressed up enough and would have been turned away.. But about 7 minutes from the Hewitt Wellington in manasquan is the most perfect restaurant called Antonio's trattoria. Perfect day, perfect night, perfect experience! Would definately come back!

Clean, quiet, beautiful B&B with great location. You can walk to town and the beach. We had a 3rd floor room with a large balcony and view of the lake. The room was large and it had a nicely updated bathroom. We would definitely stay there again!

We stayed for two nites this past week end in Room # 6 (second floor - with balcony). Room was spacious, check in was very friendly and room clean and comfortable bed. All would rate above average.
Drawbacks were room directly above ours hearing the person walk across thier room was a little bit of a test on my nerves. Secondly as mentione din previous reviews the breakfast was a complete bomb! Stale breads, thawed frozen Sysco danishs, warm OJ, plastic plates, cups, silverware made the European breakfast grade and F. I even went over to another premium B& B just three blocks away and found a comfortable sitting room with TV's, multiple daily papers at NC and a European breakfast with fresh danishes, fruits, yogurts, cereals to help get you going.
The offering of rental bikes would also be a huge advantange for future guests as this is a loevly town.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your recent stay with us. I do appreciate your nice comments about the staff and their service.
We are constantly looking for new ideas to upgrade our breakfast and I am sorry that we did not meet your needs. As we do not have a kitchen, we are sometimes limited as to what we can offer, however, we should take care that what we do offer is fresh for our guests.

I do hope that you will stay with us again and that we will be able to offer you a fresher more updated breakfast.

Thank you!

Considering the options in the area, Hewitt Wellington offers the best value. Good location -- 5 minute walk to beach, 12 minute walk to town. To be fair, all the hotels/B&Bs in the area need to be updated. For the prices they charge during high season: the breakfast was underwhelming, the towels in the room need to be changed out (some were so worn they were unraveling), and the wall paper was bubbling on the walls, plus I overheard staff frequently complaining about either each other or how messy a guest's room was left (lame -- just keep it to staff quarters, rule #`1 in hospitality). Hewitt Wellington is probably the best deal/quality you'll get in the area, but don't expect luxury accommodations or an overly friendly staff. The staff is there to work and you are there to pay for an overpriced bed, and you'll have a wonderful experience it you accept that going into your stay.

We were married in Spring Lake and so were prepared to enjoy. Reservations were fine, The room was big with a sitting room plus bedroom - pleasant decor - not your typical motel chain furniture etc. . We had a couple of questions and needed some info. That was quickly and easily handled by the front desk. Location is super; right on the lake and looking at the ocean. Add good weather and it was a great stay.
