Not a cheap, inexpensive mexican restaurant. They have a number of top shelf Margarita choices, a nice lounge area downstairs, and good food. Good for family of friends. Very good salsa and chips, nice and crisp. The desserts are good also. The whole-fish dishes are actual whole fish, head and all, so not for the squeamish. Good for dinner or cocktails and/or desserts.

Come here for the Frozen Margaritas. The food tastes better after a glass or two. It's kind of a dive bar. Do not get the nachos. They are not what you expect them to be.

This is an all round easy option for family dinners. No stress, comfortably noisy, the atmosphere very laid back and accomodating. Food is okay, nothing to write home about; If you are in good company then you won't notice the food. The bar on a friday evening was full and eveyone seemed jovial. Perhaps it was just the Friday spirit. Worth a visit for locals.

Sadly, this is the only Mexican option for South Orange, though much better options exist in Maplewood and Summit. It's average, acceptable, and they've really come a long way with their guacamole in the last 2 years. It's just decent, though, and typical of nearly all restaurants in South Orange - we accept them for being what they are, but they are a far cry from what any of us would actually seek out unless you were stuck there.
The food is just average, but it's also perfectly priced.
The decor could use a facelift, as others have called out, but it is what it is.
But for your basic 3x tacos with rice & beans meal with free chips and salsa, it's the only option in South Orange.

This place is still pumping out great food and drinks, and they will even buy you a drink if you are a good boy. Been back twice in the last couple of weeks and really enjoyed myself!!! Last night was Chorizo enchiladas, melted cheese and tortilla's followed by soft shell beef taco's....all good. My buddy had the skirt steak and guacamole ...... excellent. Beware of the Margarita's tasty and strong. Yeah, the place could use a face lift but most Mexican restaurants do. Food and beverage are well priced, staff is friendly and attentive, and I always meet nice people there. Easy
