We jumped into the Anchorage for a brew and sandwich at lunchtime after finding a long wait at Smitty's Clam Bar down the street, our first choice in Somers Point. We've been to the Anchorage before at dinner and had a good time seated on their front porch. "Back in the day", Dad brought the family here when it was a family-style red sauce Italian dive. Few alive today remember that. This time we decided to sit at the bar for lunch.
The Anchorage has a method of serving bar patrons we've never seen before. You can order a drink from the bartender, but not food. If you want food, you stand your menu on end and wait for a server to come by and tap you on the shoulder (so to speak). There's a separate tab for the food and another one from the bar. These bartenders at lunch seem to be prima donnas. Not only don't they have to deal with food, they were gruff and hard to find when needed. We got an evil eye when we asked to run a tab at the bar before knowing the food was separate.
Otherwise, the prices are reasonable and our lunch was, OK.
