“Great for families!”
Reviewed October 21, 2013 credit card Amex Card Member Review

If you have never been to a Benihana, I am not sure what rock you have been living under, but it is an experience not to be missed. This is a great place to have solidly good food and keep the kids entertained. The dining style is communal, so will be seated at a table of 8 regardless of the number in your party, and your food will be cooked "at your table." This restaurant caters to smaller children with a special menu, chef hats, and "starter chopsticks." The entertainment of having your meal cooked before your eyes, keeps kids mesmerized and make picky eaters interested in eating. For adults, the specialty drinks are unique and quite tasty (I tried more than a few), but beware, this is not a great place for quiet conversation...it gets quite loud with all of the talking above the sizzle of dinners, shouts of kids, and server birthday singing. However, this particular Benihana is on the larger side, which means getting a reservation (or just walking in) is a bit easier. The food is good, with many different types of Japanese offerings from hibachi, to sushi and tempora. Most meals come with onion soup and salad with ginger dressing, as well as ice cream or sherbert. Prices are moderate, this is not the Olive Garden...but fair for what you get.

“Fun, but not amazing food”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

Super cheesy and groan worthy jokes are part of the show with your meal at Benihana. While the food and service was good at Benihana, nothing really stuck out to me as being excellent. Maybe I'm tired of the same old jokes, and without the onion volcano or shrimp tossing, I felt like the show was lacking. I went with my team from work for lunch, and the lunch menu is excellent, a cheaper version with almost as much food as the regular version. The atmpsphere and show the cook put on while cooking was great for a team event. I just found the food a little lacking.

“Still entertaining.....”
Reviewed August 30, 2013

Three of us decided to have lunch in August and since we live in different parts of New Jersey we agreed to meet at a central location. So we decided to have lunch at Benihana on Morris Turnpike in Millburn/Short Hills. The restaurant was not crowded (about 4 tables were occupied), perhaps because of the inclement weather. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered the shrimp and scallop specials which came with a salad, fried rice and veggies; which were pretty good.

Benihana provides a fun atmosphere and it’s always enjoyable watching the chef prepare and cook the various meals. I’ve had lunch and dinner at Benihana restaurants during the past few years and the décor has remained the same. Open environment with seating for about 7 people at each table and with a chef at every table.

The staff did not rush us and we enjoyed our lunch. I/we would return for lunch and/or dinner.

“A good fun evening guaranteed”
Reviewed June 4, 2013

Its big, bustling and you should make a reservation.
The hibachi grills are an attraction by themselves with experienced chefs wielding their knives with spectacular finesse. the cooking is clean, simple and tasty. The butter and Kikkoman sauce in almost all dishes ,greatly adds to the taste! Portion sizes are good, though a tad expensive.
Recommeded is the hibachi grill beef and the raw tuna starter.
Their cocktails are good and it makes for a fun evening with family and friends.

“Entertaining”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

We took my Mom there for her birthday. In short: A scenic view with delicious food and an entertaining chef. The service was prompty and friendly. What more could you ask for? The average price of the entrees was $22. They also sang "Happy Birthday" to my Mom and brought her a complimentary ice cream sundae. A photograph of our family was a nice touch! Good times.
