“Short Hills Hilton”

The hotel staff are warm and friendly. The location is excellent (close to Route 24, 78 and 287) and across from the mall. Perfect for corporate meetings and social events. The restaurant is overpriced and not worth the money. The spa is nice but is a bit pricey as well. The rooms do need to be updated but are still in very good condition. Overall, I think the hotel is very good.

Very nice hotel for the price; not quite the four seasons, but you can get a top of the line room for around $350ish (big suite on the club floor)... and regular rooms very reasonably priced as well. Very clean; furniture a bit dated but comfortable.

Quiet, beds comfortable, nice fitness center. Restaurant is the only mild disappointment; food was really good for the most part, but the price is very high and they need to step it up a bit on the service especially for the price (expect 150-175 for two with lower cost bottle of wine).

Definitely one of the nicer places to stay in the area.

When booking a 4 star hotel there are certain expectations: it will be expensive, the public areas will be clean and well appointed with tasteful decor and the staff will be welcoming and pleasant. Short Hills Hilton lived up to the deserved 4 stars.

Lets start with my obvious question that no one could answer, why such an upscale hotel in a nice area with very little around as a destination. Ok, a shopping mall with high end shops; I have that just a few block from my house with a Hyatt Place across the street. So it can’t be the mall. However, there are several small towns nearby where one could spend the day in quaint Americana. Also, it really is a short drive to a major transit hub that has service into the City.

The lobby is very nice, not over the top opulent but rather it sets the stage for the rest of the property. As one travels throughout the property they notice the upscale theme. They offer valet service but the underground parking is free if you choose to drive. The entrance from the garage leads into the hotel meeting spaces which as you enter through the sliding door you notice the upscale theme. On Monday when we left, the entrance vignette had fresh peach roses in a simple clear vase, the day before was a large bouquet of flowers for mothers day. The elevator to the guest rooms was clean adorned with wood panels and plush carpet.

We booked a king room on the executive level to our surprise looked out over the wooded area. This being spring, the trees were in full bloom creating a sea of green. The room was spacious with an extremely comfortable king bed, dresser and flat screen TV mounted on the wall with framing. As well, there was a chair with ottoman, work desk and chair. The bathroom was nice but a bit cramped for two people getting ready for an event. In line with Hilton properties, they offered Peter Thomas Roth amenities. There was also a mini-frig in the room, along with robes in the closet and a small safe.

We did not eat at the restaurant but did enjoy the concierge level room for continental breakfast and the daily honor bar for water and soft drinks. I have to say this is one of the best concierge rooms I have frequented during a stay. As well, we had wine in the bar with a tasty cheese board. Being a CA native and self professed wine snob, the on site bar “The Retreat” offered some nice wines. Keep in mind there is a huge mark up on wine, but we did enjoy a glass of some premium wine. I am sure the poolside bar and service is an attraction in warm weather.

We did not take advantage of the spa. Overall, we enjoyed our three night stay at the Short Hills Hilton and would stay there again if ever back in the area. I highly recommend this hotel, thanks to the staff we really did feel like we were on a mini vacation.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the woods.

We live in the area, and were looking for a nearby quiet, relaxing, upscale hotel for a brief retreat. The staff is welcoming and efficient, and the rooms very comfortable. The hotel is near Chatham and Madison, small towns with some great restaurants. Also right off the highway, so it's easy to get to NYC too, if that's desired. We had Executive Lounge access, which had an excellent spread for breakfast.......Looking forward to going back again.

Stayed for 2 nights during business trip to NJ. Hotel is located just opposite to huge shopping mall (incl. Saks, Neiman Markus, Macy's and many more) while honestly nothing else is around the hotel so to go anywhere else apart from this mall (e.g. to Morristown, Chatham or any other town nearby) you need to take a taxi. So hotel can not be considered good location for leisure travellers. While for business it's also not the best as many other hotels in area providingh free transfers to different locations while at Hilton Short Hills the only free transfer is to the mall. Check in was fast and efficient. I booked room on the executive floor so was entitled to have free Internet and access to Executive lounge with Comtinental breakfast and snacks during the day. Room is of good size, nicely furnished in classic style with wooden furniture, big LCD TV. Bed is very comfortable like in general at all Hilton's. All basic amenities you can expect from such type of hotel are there, while what was bit dissapointing is that they do not offer slippers in the rooms even on request - which is a bit strange for 4 star hotel. Although after my request they were able to provide rubber slippers from the Spa. Bathroom os also very nice with Peter Thomas Roth bath products. Wi-fi in the room and in the lounge is of very good quality. Continental breakfast at the lounge have very limited choice and is really extremely continental (even ham is not proposed). Snacks and pastries in the lounge in the evening are average. Very suprising was that loiunge doesn't provide any alcoholic drinks for free (even beer or wine) - first time I see such at executive lounge. Apart from hours in the evening (from 17 till 21) only coffee, tea and soft drinks are available at the lounge. Hotel has very nice indoor swimming pool and also outdoor one (although latter was closed in April). Public areas are clean and room clening is good as well. All in all good hotel for short business stays.

If we're near Short Hills, we almost always stay at the Hilton. The front desk staff and doormen were excellent - very welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. The only negative was the dining room. Breakfast was terribly overpriced, and the service was awful. Reading the dinner menu, it struck me that the restaurant was aspiring to be much more than a mere hotel restaurant, but without a great deal of success. We'll still stay there next time we're in Short Hills, but we'll avoid the restaurant.
