Description: The signature dish at Legal Sea Foods – really fresh fish. Our restaurant is located inside The Mall at Short Hills on the lower level. You may choose to beach yourself in our dining room or at our bar. Either way, we’ll think you walk on water - be sure to see our aquarium of koi fish built into the floor. Legal Sea Foods has long proven that a consistent, high quality dining experience never goes out of style. With over 40 varieties of fresh fish and shellfish available throughout the year as well as an award-winning wine list, there’s no doubt why legions of fans have fallen hook, line and sinker. We’ve received a boatload of accolades including the honor of serving our legendary New England Clam Chowder at every presidential inauguration since 1981.

Even though it is located in the mall, we go to Legal when we want simple seafood and sides. Great healthy option.

Located in the pretentious “Short Hills Mall”, Legal Seafood is a typical mall restaurant with good food and decent service. I would not classify this restaurant as fine dining but rather just below the threshold. Similar to the caliber of the Capitol Grille chain, Legal Seafood presents an image of high quality and pretentiousness without the quality product that would push it up into the category of fine dining. The wine list is average but pricey, so on this evening we opted for Patron!

Yay! That rare commodity is alive at Legal Seafoods. What used to be a staple from the "olden days" has become very ellusive. Healthy & complete, order it, fry it, make an awesome salad and you will have a phenomenal meal! Wholesome, but light, touching all your tastebuds with happy faces!

Looks like Bonefish Grill has a little competition. The food is pretty good quality for a chain restaurant. Prices are very affordable. Decorated real well. Nice ambiance. I had the seafood casserole. Very tasty! A lil too much salt. Service was great too. Everyone's dinner was brought out all at once. Good job !

Even the children's fish sticks were more like batter-dipped fish & chips. Wait staff was extremely pleasant and quickly corrected the one mistake that was made. My boyfriend & I shared the fried oysters appetizer - they were in a very cripsy batter, fresh & juicy inside. Weirdly, they came with a line of cinnamon mixed with salt for dipping, and a lime wedge. We passed on the cinnamon but used the lime. For main course I had the Nutty Atlantic Salmon. I was asked how I wanted it cooked, which was a nice surprise - usually you only get that option with tuna. The sauce was delicious as was the mushroom ravioli and spinach with garlic & oil that it was resting on. Portion size was very generous and the surface of the fish was covered in crispy almond slivers. A unique dish & pulled off well. My boyfriend had the seafood casserole with sherry garlic sauce - he also reported it to be excellent.

Children were treated well, with a special menu that actually had a real fish selection, and a small pack of items to keep them busy including some crayons.

Unlike some restaurants, the music was at an acceptable level and we could actually hear each other talk.

They were generous with bread and water, and kept coming back to replenish both. We were even offered gluten-free rolls which we tried out of curiosity - they were actually delicious, tasting like biscuits but with the texture of bread. We will be back!
