Go 72 west. As you leave "The Island" behind , look on the right ,going slowly, just before the bridge begins. See on the right LaSpaiggia Restaurant ,a lowslung yellow building with white columns. You are going in opposite direction of most diners thus you avoid the traffic crawling South on LBI Blvd in search of an often not so good restaurant. Even though this small place may waiting outside you will spare the traffic south and be quaranteed fine quality food.
One can easily miss LaSpaiggia, but DON'T. As you head West on 72 leaving the island go slowly in right lane and look for VALET signs, OPEN flags, etc.
This is the only consistently excellent food I have found on LBI. Attention to detail is apparent here. The fried calamari was delicately breaded, fresh and piping hot.Caesar salad crisp with just the right amount of dressing. I had spaghetti and meatballs;perfectly seasoned with a homemade quality
served over al dente pasta with ribbons of greens interwoven and a slightly sweet red sauce.
My companion enjoyed melt in your mouth,as fresh as can be TENDER NJ bay scallops with shrimp in white sauce over pasta. The seafood was exquisite and the white sauce was subtle yet flavorful, which allowed the delicate scallops to predominate. Dessert mini cannoli were served on an ice cold plate ,creatively presented with chocolate swirls and a fresh mint spring. They were overstuffed with a decadent cannoli filling which was delightfully chilled. Aahhh, sweet perfection for a warm island evening' s end.. Service is attentive and the wait staff serves in a rather formal style .
The atmosphere surrounding your exact your table and meal is lovely, but the LaSpiaggia is small so GO EARLY for specials and to avoid busy times.

“Delicious Memorial Day Weekend Dinner”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

My family and I were highly recommended to La Spiaggia as we are new homeowners to the area and appreciate wonderfully prepared, thoughtfully served cuisine. We have been to a few similarly priced restaurants nearby and found La Spiaggia to be operating at a much higher level than the rest. Our server was accommodating and completely versed in the cuisine served here. Our wine (BYOB) was handled with extreme care and crystal wine glasses were swapped out once the server realized the high quality of the vineyard we would be drinking. I found this to be an extremely nice touch offered and one you do not see often in BYOB establishments. The menu and printed special list offered excellent choices from start to finish. Some highlights included crab/tomato bruschetta, tuscan shrimp with white beans, delicious, properly served burratta cheese and a superb caesar salad. All of our selections were thoughtfully served, artistically crafted and timed perfectly. Each dish was placed correctly in front of the person who ordered it. I can't begin to tell you how many times servers have asked who is eating what in fine dining restaurants in this area. Entrees did not disappoint. Osso buco/risotto was the best I've tasted in awhile, veal chop milanese was done delicately and not overcooked or overdressed, pasta bolognese was simply outstanding with a touch of homemade ricotta, fresh basil and extra virgin olive, veal sorrentina proved to be expertly sauteed and it's sauce should be jarred and sold to the public. It was that sublime! The table was crisply set with tablecloths, showplates, cobalt blue water glasses and fine quality silverware. We were promptly seated for our reservation once we arrived and the valet took care of our car right near the front entrance. The staff is very well trained and the young men working expertly cleared and replaced silverware neatly. Our table was crumbed by our server twice and a framed dessert menu was presented. Although we were quite satisfied, we had to have dessert and opted for their warm chocolate anni and creme brulee to be shared. The chocolate dessert was outrageous! Definitely prepared in house, oozing with warm chocolate to be mixed with white chocolate ganache! Creme brulee is such a simple dessert yet so many places get it wrong. La Spiaggia's was on point with a crackling sugar crust and a perfect amount of vanilla bean. Espresso was served with a beautiful crema layer and at a perfect temperature! Very impressive work from a group who knows what they are doing! We will be back and hopefully can become part of their well heeled regular clientele!

“too crowded/too noisy”
Reviewed May 30, 2014

Impressive menu with nice range of selections but the tables are stacked one on top of another- I could easily reach over and sample my neighbors soup if I wanted to! Noise level high also and the prices are too high for what you get. Ambiance average -we were expecting some romantic setting like an Italian villa but the décor was plain.

“Good Northern Italian Cuisine”
Reviewed May 28, 2014

A local dinning experience. Excellent staff and service. Very pricey for what you receive [portion size]. Small [Cosy inside]. BYOB. If you are price conscious then appetizers and desert are not an option.

The regular menu and specials are always interesting showing creativity and imagination. This team has it all together.
