One of our best hotel experiences ever! So good, we extended our stay a few times (March 2012). To our amazement, the hotel staff actually treated us like celebrities (which we're not)!!! Clean, clean, clean...excellent breakfasts (hot entree with scrambled eggs; waffles: hand-cut fruit, coffee, hot chocolate, juices, etc.), safe parking (although outside, you can see your car from your room...well-lit area where mostly professionals work). Easy access--directly across the street--to New York City's "Port Authority," corner of 8th Avenue and 42nd Street (via the comfortable New Jersey 320 bus; rate for a Senior is only $3.60 round trip in March 2012). Nearby, many excellent restaurants (Chili's, Chipoltes, Asian food, pizza place), huge movie theater, shopping, AAA, post office (5-minute walk) in a mall nearby; other direction on Harmon Meadow Road (10-minute walk) is Wal-Mart and Sam's Club. Like other reviewers have said, we agree that this may be the safest, most efficient, and most economical way to see New York--without having to pay huge New York Hotel costs.

My wife and I stayed at the Hampton Inn this past weekend 3/2312 - 3/25/12. I have never in all of my stays at hotels in over 20 years experienced and witnessed such fantastic service at a hotel from the manager and staff. The rooms were very clean the breakfast was very good. The staff was the friendliest staff I have ever come across. Everyone in the staff always smiled and looked you in the eye smiled and said hi or good morning anytime you came across them. They were always looking for ways to help out whether it be asking if you needed anything or with getting what you needed for breakfast. This included bring you food to you at times or cleaning up. All this great service was not limited to just the staff but the Manager. The manager was Uriel Baker. I always saw him out front greeting people, cleaning up, delivering help and providing incredible customer service. As you read the other reviews you will see he even makes sure to check the reviews and respond, both positive and negative reviews. I was so impressed with him and his team I had to tell him my last day there. Mr. Baker understands what customer service is and leads by example. You could tell he did not ask his team to do anything he wasn’t prepared to do himself. Thank you!

Spent 2 nights here and was very pleased with the hotel. It was very clean and well maintained. The breakfast was very good. The manager was there helping to make waffles on the first morning and was very friendly and gracious. Definitely would stay here again.

We decided to stay at the Hampton Inn in Secaucus since it was cheaper than staying in New York City. The hotel seemed clean, the free breakfast was good, and I never saw any bed bugs! During the week, they had snack time around 3:30pm. This ranged from Anthony's homemade brownies to fried foods and pastries. They did not have a pool, but the exercise room was adequate and laundry facilities were available, although $1.75 per load. However, we enjoyed Cleve's antics at the front desk when he always seemed able to eye-ball the correct number of quarters we needed. Right across the street, you can catch the 320 bus to NYC, which takes you to Port Authority in Times Square. From there you can get on the subway and go anywhere. The bus cost $7.90 per person for a roundtrip ticket. The bus ride was only ~15 minutes. Also across the street is a Chipotle, Cheeseburger in Paradise and a good NY bagel shop Bagels Plus. If you happen to be Japanese, the Hampton Inn also has a special room for you to enjoy traditional Japanese breakfast. The hotel manager Arnie greeted us every morning and helped us enjoy our stay. We would definitely go back to the Hampton Inn Secaucus for our next trip to NYC.

We stayed here because of the reviews that mentioned the easy bus trip into New York City, and because we like Hampton Inns. It was a good experience. Both the evening check-in person and the morning clerk were very helpful with our trip into the city. The 320 bus stop is just across the street and if you are 62 or over the roundtrip costs less than $3!. We took the 7:20 which got to the Port Authority Bus terminal at 7:47. There are buses about every 10-15 minutes. We checked out before we left, and then left our car there for the day, They have free parking and didn't mind us leaving the car. It seems to be a safe neighborhood, and the hotel is very nice. There were cookies in the lobby, and the room had 2 double beds. My only suggestion would be to have some rooms with 2 queens. The breakfast was good and the price reasonable. We would stay here again.
