“Don't count on the shuttle!”
Reviewed June 5, 2008

After booking the hotel on the internet and then being charged a surprise $60.00 fee, we called the hotel directly and booked it there. Somewhere on the internet I saw that breakfast was served from 5 to 10 a.m. so we were a little more than disappointed to learn that it wasn't served till 7 a.m. (We had to be in NYC early, so we weren't able to have the breakfast first morning.) It was a very good breakfast when we got to eat it! We were also told there was a laundry on site and there was not. Beds were very hard but room was clean. Worst problem was their free shuttle which was supposed to be based on availability. We rushed home from Manhattan to make it at 9:30 before the shuttle stopped at 10 p.m. only to be told that it was not going to be back in time to pick us up. The shuttle was there as it turned out, but they just didn't have a driver!!! They could have told us that it wasn't going to be available. Many other hotels would have picked up the $6.00 cab fare, but not them. The staff at the front desk was not very helpful as far as suggesting transportation modes into NYC. We actually went into another hotel and got information from their front desk.

Nice enough hotel. I stayed there with three other friends and day tripped to New York City. The hotel was clean and we encountered no problems. A very pleasant staff - especially Billy the shuttle guy. The breakfast was nice and hot and a good variety. Our room was ready early (10:00 am) and they gave us the keys. In the past we have stayed in a hotel right in Times Square and like the convenience. Although this hotel is close to the city it takes time to shuttle to the train and then into the city. Free shuttle to the train then $5.75 round trip. (Runs about every half hour to hour. Shuttle stops at 10 pm and then cost $12.00 to get back to the hotel from the train. A bit of a hassle.

this is an overall average hotel experience without exceptionally bad surprises. my room was very clean and pretty spacious. due to single glass windows i had some ground noise from the highway close by, but nothing dramatic.

didnt try any services in house so cannot comment on that.

good for a 1 or 2 days stay.

in the rush hour it will be 90 minutes drive by cab to new york.

This hotel was very close to Meadowlands stadium and so close to New York, we were shocked that a train ride was only $3.00 and was about 5 minutes. The hotel has a shuttle that picks you up at the Seacaucus train station. It's also a quick train ride to the airport.

Stayed in the summer of 2007 for a week.
The hotel is located in the middle of the highway almost directly opposite the NY Giants stadium although there is little if any road noise.

The hotel is clean and tidy and the staff are freindly & helpful. The rooms are large and airy with 2 queen size beds and a bathroom. Breakfast is included but we chose to eat in the city. No particular reason, just did what we wanted.

We chose the hotel because of it's price and 4 star rating and were not dissappointed. It is significantly chaper than a manhatton hotel and the bus ride into the city costs just over $2.50 each way. The bust stop is a 15 minute stroll away or the hotel courtesy bust will brop you off for free. the bust ride itself takes around 15 - 20 minutes and busses run 24 hours a day to the port authority bus station in Time Square

The only 2 down sides are 1) The location - after a long days shopping in NYC, you can't just drop your shopping off and go back but if you plan your days and nights, it's deffinately worth a stay.and 2) No pool for those hot summer days but hey, I've stayed twice and will do so again.

A point to note about the city itself, We got tickets to see the baseball at Shea Stadium in Queens. Easy to get to & from but not somewhere you would want to spend a dark avening !!

Stayed at the Plaza this past weekend. It seemed to be the Giants/Patriots fan headquarters Saturday afternoon/Sunday morning (it's about a mile from the hotel to the stadium). Sunday night was a lot less busy.

The hotel offers decent value...the rooms were clean, if a bit small. our room looked over Rte. 3 east, but the noise wasn't an issue. We did have a problem with the maid service...the maid stopped by our room around 10:30....I told her we'd be leaving in a half-hour and would be out for awhile. My wife and daughter returned around 3pm and the room wasn't done...the maid showed up a bit later and was told we'd pass on any service.

There is a Wendy's down the street, along with a local cafe and a Dunkin Donuts.

I doubt I'd stay there again, but given the hotels were full up when I booked in mid-December, it could've been worse.

Just returned from two nights at the Meadowlands Plaza Hotel, and were we happily surprised! For the price (AARP discount), we received one of their upgraded rooms (901 - executive room with sleep sofa, mini-fridge, and microwave). The room was huge, much bigger than comparable rooms at other chains, with a roomy bathroom as well. A king-size bed offered room to stretch out and provided lots of comfortable support (no sagging mattress here). There was plenty of room for the three of us, and since it was at the end of the hall and on the top floor, it was very quiet.

Breakfast was filling - moist scrambled eggs (!), sausage patties, bacon, pancakes (on the dry side), home fries, juice, coffee/tea, cereal, bananas, and an assortment of muffins/bagels,/croissants/pastries. Meadowlands Plaza does offer wi-fi for a fee.

The fitness room had a couple of treadmills, a stair stepper, two exercycles (one recumbent, one vertical), an elliptical, some free weights, and a universal-type weight machine station. When we checked it out upon check-in, there were a number of folks working out in the evening, but hardly anyone was there the two mornings we used it.

If you drive, you'll have to take your car over to the Harmon Meadows Outlet Mall to pick up the 320 bus to NY's Port Authority ($3.15 o/w), but you can park for free in the mall parking lots. We used the Sam's Club lot where there's a bus stop. We've stayed at the AmeriSuites, and I would say that the Meadowlands Plaza was a better value.

  • Liked — Well-located, well-priced, and well done.
  • Disliked — Distance away from the mall and wi-fi for a fee.
