Hilton Garden Inn Secaucus / Meadowlands
Ranked #3 of 15 Hotels in Secaucus
Reviewed November 3, 2012

We rented this room during the Sandy Hurricane crisis and it was all we could get. When we saw the hotel door we realized it was an old hotel.
The room was updated and a total surprise and we would have stayed 2 nights if they were not sold out.
Everythibng was nice in this hotel including the breakfast.

We had no trouble getting to the hotel because I paid attention to what others have said in the reviews. Pretty easy to get to and VERY easy to get back onto the NJ Turnpike. The staff was awesome, the room was perfect, clean and comfortable - slept very well, and the breakfast looked really good and fresh though we didn't stay to eat. It was literally minutes to NYC - we were going to NYC for a special event and could not afford the ridiculous room rates in Manhattan. This was a perfect alternative! I would most definitely stay again.

The location is fine. 8 min walk to the city bus stop which takes you into NY city at the port authority bus terminal on 42 nd ave. Healthy to walk! And walk while we can!

Rooms are very comfortable and better than the ones in the city. Free parking. Staff are very friendly. Will definitely go back the next time.

Dear Shao_Paoh_Pach:

We would like to thank you for staying at our Hilton Garden Inn in Secaucus and thank you for taking the time to post a review after your stay. We have received many comments from our guest about the 2/10 of a mile walk to the bus stop and you are the first person to comment on it being good excersize. That is a great way to think of it and we are sure you probably did even more walking once you were in the city. We will share your comments with our staff so they will know how their efforts help assist our guests.

After reading all of the reviews regarding the closeness of and ease of this hotel to NYC, I selected the Hilton Garden for our visit. Several things to consider: the bus stop is through the parking lot, down the access road, and to the other end of the Home Depot. I would guess 1/2 mile. Not all of it is sidewalk. This could be a difficult walk for an older person. Also, seems somewhat desolate to me. I would not want to walk it after dark. Once you get to the bus, the ride to NYC was fairly short. There is free parking and there appeared to be plenty of it. Breakfast is $11.95. The bed was not comfortable at all. And, there are several roads right outside the building and you hear the traffic all night long. Loud traffic! We did not rest or sleep well while there. It is still cheaper than any safe thing you will find in the city.

Dear kjswheels:

I would like to thank you for staying at our Hotel and for taking the time to post a review after your recent stay with us. While the bus stop that New Jersey transit has near the hotel is 2/10 of a mile walk it is the closest bus stop that they have been allowed to do by the state. During the night time hours there are street lights and other lights so that anyone walking can see where they are. I hope you would accept our apologies if the bed in your room was not adjusting as it should. All of our beds have controls on each side so that our guests can adjust them to meet their needs.

Thank you again for staying with us and we hope to see you again in the future.

We received a warm welcome at this hotel from smiling, friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable and the king bed had a mattress with the dials for adjustable firmness on both sides. There was both a fridge and a microwave in the room which was very convenient. The bathroom was a comfortable size and the massaging shower head was wonderful. We stayed for three nights and enjoyed the proximity to the NJ Transit into NYC. Each night there were fresh, free cookies at the front desk for a nice evening snack. The room rates were very reasonable and although we didn't take advantage of the breakfast buffet, it looked very good. We would definitely recommend this to friends.

Having stayed in several Hilton Garden Inns, we've come to expect a comfortable familiarity that makes it feel as though we've been there before, even though it's our first visit. This hotel didn't disappoint; the room was very clean, comfortable and spacious and all the usual amenities were present. The bedding was excellent and everything worked properly. The restaurant, which is open only for breakfast, provided the usual HGI cooked-to-order breakfast which we've come to view as one of the nicest things about these hotels. It's always great to start the day with a good meal, especially if we're hitting the road that day. We particularly appreciated the nice assortment of fresh fruit and the fluffy omelets. This restaurant was on the small side, however, and was pretty crowded at times; if you're on a schedule, you'll want to take that into account. Two other things to be aware of: the air conditioning unit in our room was the old-style under-window type which was somewhat loud; it didn't prevent our getting an excellent night's sleep, but very light sleepers may have some difficulty. And the hotel's location may pose problems. It's on route 3 eastbound, with neither an entry or exit on the westbound lanes of route 3. Getting to the hotel from the NJ Turnpike is easy, but getting out, headed in the right direction, is another story. And reaching the hotel from another direction requires some circular routing. MetLife Stadium is to the west and the hotel is very convenient if you're attending a sports event there. Fortunately the hotel desk has a printed handout instructing guests in finding a way to turn around and get pointed toward the stadium. None of this is a show-stopper and I'd certainly recommend this hotel (and would gladly stay there again) but you do need to be aware of the complex road pattern and I'm not sure how well a GPS would do in finding your way..

I was here for one night for business and I loved this place. The made to order breakfast was very good and so was the staff. The rooms were very very clean and with the hotel being close to the highway it was easy to drive to local eateries. I appreciated that they let me check in early and check out late.

All in all a great Hilton property and I would definitely stay there again.
