“Last resort...wished I drove home”
Reviewed June 19, 2011

On a last minute trip to NYC my choice was here or a $650 room in NYC. Well, I chose the Homestead, soon to be an Extended Stay I believe. Horrible experience and I should have driven home. We had "workers" looking for "work" in the parking lot (if you get me) and rooms that don't deserve rent over $25 an hour.

I kept my bags packed and left everything on the counter for fear of bringing home whatever lived in that room. Stains, smells, sounds and feelings that should not be ignored.

Never again, never again.

Bed stinks, I am worried about bugs after seeing all the reviews, and the water from the tub is yellowish and gross at the first several seconds. No breakfast, internet is slow and they asked for money for internet access!!!!! But the plaza has movie theater, food court, close to Hoboken. There is a Hotel Inn in the same plaza as well.

The smell of mold greeted me the minute I stepped in the room with carpet that has not been changed since 1970. I never put my bag on the worn sofa or matress or let me bare feet hit the floor. The other guest in our party was given a key to an unclean room so they had to be moved. I was glad I brought long pants and shirt because I would not have wanted any part of my body to touch the bed. I did not sleep well at all on the tihn mattress. I am glad we were in the city most of the day and did not have to spend much time in the room. Room service only comes when it is time to check out but not during the stay. Fresh towels are hard to come by if at all. The best thing about the room was that it was free due to an employee friend because I would NEVER pay to stay at a place that flithy. I am itching just thinking about that place. YUCK!

Room Tip: Stay somewhere else

Location is very good.Close to NYC and busstop just outside the hotel.Close to shopping and restaurants.
Other then that donot expect anything.
Rooms are dirty, bathrooms outdated and has a sliding door with a lock that never works.Only limited channels on TV.Bed is uncomfortable.Sheets dont look neat and crisp at all.All the furnitures are old and smelly.
No breakfast provided.Just coffee and juice are provided all day long.
Laundry room is decent.
Few staff members (front desk and cleaning crew) are good.
They failed to inform me that my lost baggage had arivved from the airport and i had to keep following with the airline, airline transportation company and i had to finally track it down to them.Even after that they didnt know where they had kept it and took more than a week after i vacated to get it back.

Stayed in a deluxe studio with 2 queen beds on the ground floor opposite the pool. Unfortunately, the pool was being painted while we were there so it was not in use.
The room was clean except for a whiff of urine emanating from the bathroom. It looked like the toilet had been leaking at one point and the old caulking had absorbed the smell. Easy fix for the hotel, just peel off the old caulk and recaulk it. Suggested it - whether they do it or not is another matter.
Being on the ground floor facing a major roadway, we thought the highway noises might be an issue but that was not the case. Room was quite quiet. The bed was very comfortable so I slept like a baby.
Location was fabulous for getting into Manhattan being two bus stops from Port Authority Bus Terminal. Bus fare was $6.10 return.
Front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Parking was very convenient to access.
There is a Starbucks and a Dunkin Donuts a short walk away from the hotel for those with a caffeine addiction.
