We needed a place for 6 nights that would accommodate our small dog and new born child. The staff were amazing at making our stay comfortable and truly memorable. The location is great with everything needed within a few minutes drive. The gardens were welcoming and well kept. I would recommend staying here especially if it is an extended stay and you need a kitchen.

Marion78 - Thank you for your kind comments. Residence Inn's Tag Line is "It's not a hotel, it is a Residence" is something our team here truly works hard to fulfill. The relaxing gardens and gate house patio area always nice. We had a guest not so long ago sitting in the front rocking chair with his baby and puppy just rocking away. It doesn't get much more like home than that.

My wife and I with our two service dogs needed a long-term stay out of our home. This hotel was great. The staff is very dedicated and caring, all of them concerned and anxious to do all they could for us to ensure that we and our dogs were comfortable. They gave us a spacious, quiet suite where we would not be disturbed, and were quick to accommodate us whenever we asked. The grounds have plenty of well-lit well-mowed grassy areas with sidewalks for pleasant, convenient walks, and we were pleased to see that the guests are respectful with their pets - everyone cleans up after their dogs so the grass areas are immaculate. Also, just outside the grounds there's a corporate park with plenty of large grassy areas for dog exercise on extended leash. This contrasts with other "dog friendly" hotels that permit pets but provide insufficient exercise areas. The hotel is very quiet - even though it was fully booked for the two weeks we stayed, we rarely heard a neighbor and never heard any dogs barking. During the day, we did encounter an occasional fellow dog-walker, and the exchange between people and dogs was always friendly. Close to restaurants and shopping. We'll definitely be back next time we need a long-term stay, and we'll recommend it to friends even for an overnight. Both thumbs up.

Hotel, Staff & Dining
- The staff was very helpful for dining options - nearby Allendale downtown had some cute restaurants, a grocery, cafes, and fast food
- There was a breakfast buffet - standard Marriott Residence Inn (continental, waffles)
- Check-in and out was quick and easy, I noticed that frequent customers were known by name
- They provided a check-in bag with some "goodies" (chips, water, chocolate)
- The room also had a free bag of popcorn, tea & coffee, and water

Room
- Very spacious suite - almost a full kitchen, desk, free wi-fi
- The TV swiveled to view from bedroom or desk in kitchen
- Bed was very comfortable
- Bathroom was standard and very clean

Location
- Worked at Lonza across the street on Boroline - could have walked if needed, but it was easier to drive with the weather.
- Easy access from the Newark Airport - about 30-45 minutes, depending on traffic

We have two requirements for a hotel: it must welcome dogs and it must have a kitchenette. A decade ago we discovered Residence Inn. They are now much as they were then. More commodious chains now compete--Homewood Suites in particular.

Having unpacked, set up my medical equipment, found a Fresh Market and bought food for dinner, we discovered that the oven was broken, the control module hanging behind the panel. Fortunately, the stove top and microwave still worked. When a manager came to help, he produced a bright flash and a loud POP. Then the stove top no longer worked either.

We were asked to move to a new room, 2321 where we found a non-functional disposal and a dining table so damaged that one of us had to hold it steady while we ate.

The pillows at Residence Inns are covered in a fabric so inexpensive that they are always warm. They have no cool side.

This particular Inn has the shortest list of HD channels we have found on the Atlantic seaboard.

Residence Inn's TV spots are delightful--penguins, giraffes et al. Perhaps some of their cost should have been directed to maintaining the rooms..

Room Tip: Check all functions before unpacking.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your comments. We work very hard to make sure that everything in every room is in working order prior to and during our guest stays. Our facilities go through a regular Preventive Maintenance cycle but in spite of our best efforts it looks like we may have missed the mark in your case. For that I am so very sorry. I know when given the opportunity we will do whatever we can to make sure every aspect of your stay is nothing short of exceptional. I hope this was the resolution in your case. If not I would welcome you to call me directly.

Stayed for just one night, in our way to Washington DC. From the moment we got it, Deb (front desk) was able to check us in in just few minutes, considering that she was multitasking. That's customer service. She was very friendly, and customer-oriented. The room was clean, ideal for a small family of 4 (One Bedroom). The facilities are typical for a Residence Inn. The good side of this particular hotel, is that is very accessible to the main routes, shopping centers and restaurants while is in a very quiet area.
The breakfast was great (typical menu for Residence Inn), but again the personnel made the difference. They were very friendly with all the guests.
Keep in mind that this hotel does not have indoor pool, but still, it's great for long business or pleasure stays. We will definitely stay again in the future. Kudos to all the staff at this location.

Room Tip: ask for a high floor. they have elevators, and these floors are quieter.

Ramon -
Thank you for taking the time to write such a glowing review. We are very proud of Deb as she just received her degree in Hospitality. I think you must agree she has definitely found her calling. Even as a die-hard NY Yankee fan (which is hard to be right now) Deb still does everything she can to serve our guests from Boston and around the world.

While our seasonal pool was closed for your trip I hope you had a chance to utilize our guest sports court and outdoor fire pit. They can be a nice way to relax after a long day or before our evening social.

Thank you again for your comments. We stand ready to serve you again on your future visits to the area.

We needed to stay a couple of nights to regroup after being with friends and family for the week. We used Marriott points the first night and they could not have been more accommodating and friendly. From the front desk staff all the way to the manager, they offered the most incredible service that we have ever received at a hotel...and we do a lot of traveling. They were even able to offer a military discount on the second night and we could not have been happier. It's off Route 17 (always a nightmare) which was nice to see and the amenities they offer are similar to Homewood Suites, which we stay at often. It is super clean and the separate rooms were both very comfortable.

This is the only hotel we will stay at in this area from now on. Keep up the good work! I can't recommend it enough!
