Barnacle Bills is a fun place on the water in Rumson. It has some nice beers on draft and has a cozy, family-friendly atmosphere. Todd brings in some really good local bands on the weekends (none are crazy loud). Bernard Purdie (drummer for Aretha, Steely Dan, et al) has played there recently. Unfortunately the food is just average. Nothing really great. The steamers, pan-roasted trout, spinach salad and believe it or not the stuffed artichoke are really good. The burgers are good, but they used to be much, much better. Not sure what happened to them; people used to drive from North Jersey just for the burgers a few years back. Barnacles has a very friendly vibe; just wish the food was a little better.
